Former national paddler Li Jiawei is unperturbed by criticism about her decision to move back to her native Beijing following her recent retirement and insists she still wants to be of service to Singapore.
The 31-year-old shared her playing experience at the Youth Olympic Games Gallery on Friday to about 50 young paddlers - including 10 from the Singapore Sports School's School Within A School Programme, and doesn't rule out returning to helm similar events.
Singapore Table Tennis Association president and MP for Nee Soon South GRC Lee Bee Wah said the association is trying to source for Singapore companies, with operations in China, who would be willing to employ Li.
Li said her main reason for relocating is to spend more time with her businessman husband Li Chao and three-year-old son Tian Rui and stressed that she still has a home here.
