Man arrested for molesting woman in lift

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 32-year-old male suspect who is believed to have molested a woman in a lift at Yishun Avenue 11.
On Dec 29 2012, police received a report that a woman in her twenties was molested by an unknown man in the lift.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive investigations and managed to establish the identity of the suspect. The culprit was tracked down and arrested on Jan 3 in the vicinity of Toa Payoh North.
The culprit will be charged in Court tomorrow for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of two years and caning.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Keok Tong San, commended the officers for their excellent investigations which led to the arrest.
He added that if confronted by a molester, one should remain calm, take note of the subject's physical description, and call the police as soon as it is safe to do so.
