This is an extract from an article by AFP on the benefits of growing old in Hongkong. One of the biggest bug bear of ageing is medical fee. And if I read the article right, ‘everybody enjoys virtually free medical benefits’ in HK, not free totally but the cost must be quite minimal compares to what Sinkies are paying in our public hospitals. And $16 for the seniors, inclusive of medicine is a steal. And there is no mean testing to see who gets what or how much difference must be the subsidies. They are not that mean and petty.

Many sick people wanted to be treated for everything,even terminal.It's all a guilt feeling, most of them. Some chose to die peacefully without spending a bomb.Some insisted and demanded the best treatment and the best doctors for their dying relatives or loved ones and the hospital doctors had to oblige.So the medical bill shot up....and they wanted only the best in everything.

So when the hospital bill came, they made so much noise even their dead relatives and deceased loved ones feel ashamed and degraded.

Many patients died a peaceful death without spending a bomb on medical treatment. It's your choice. Ignorance is the cause.Don't blame the doctors, don't blame the government, don't blame anyone.Blame yourself and your bad karma.

Many patients "trust" doctors because they are suppose to be the experts, they have the degrees and are doctors. It's something like all those men/women who believe that only LKY can run Spore

We should all know that most doctors & politicians are motivated by money. Unfortunately there are many gullible people who still have not realised this
