Hi readers,

I want to report a real case that happened in my office of a large MNC which feeds numerous IT consultants from India and Philippines. Mainly india.

I needed to tally data from one system with their system. An Indian PR developed the codes. Our system data is different from theirs when they should be the same.

Our system has been in use for about a decade. So, in the all countries, all the users believe in its accuracy like they believe in their gods.
So, I investigated the problem and checked with the IT consultant, the Indian PR. His first reaction was he did not know, which is quite unprofessional of him to answer in this manner. Because he did not want to reveal his codes, he said he didn’t know.

As we all belong to an internal IT team, I did not want to complain about him. I thought that teamwork and team spirit are important in a team. So, I didn’t complain about his attitude to my boss.

Our IT system has been running for over ten years but it’s poorly managed. The IT consultants could get away with it as they can collude with each other to cover themselves. The users are also foolish and did not test properly. So, for ten years, these “pien jia” (i.e, swindlers) can get away swindling our SGD at the expense of sinkie jobs.

Now, I finally caught them red handed. The part of the program coded by this Indian PR consultant was found not to meet the requirements at all. The user is also blind. Money spent on quality control and assurance is all a waste. No one is really working!

All sorts of rework were needed. This created tonnes of work for support, all at the expense of the company and users.
My conclusion of these foreigners (at least those that I’ve encountered) is this:

1. It’s true that productivity has dropped with influx of foreigners.

2. Foreigners are not committed. They may use cheap and dirty ways to get by. As long as companies cannot check their work in detail, the companies will not know that they have been getting wrong data and information from their systems.

3. IT in Singapore is so infested with foreigners that now, even the hiring managers, team leaders and senior managers are all foreigners. And they all tend to come from India. They will go all way out to protect their own kinds and names. They help each other but do not really help Singaporeans who now are the minority in IT sector.

4. I tried to criticise the foreigners in my earlier job as QA. My manager, a PR here for 10 years, was from India. He had earlier engaged a vendor team of what? Consultants from India. I was hired to check their work. I found design flaws and reported to my manager. Guess what? In the end, he defended his compatriots from India and I had to go.

5. Same case here in my current job, another large MNC. These Indian nationals have colluded and created a haven and enclave such that they will carry on their dirty tricks to help them get by and continue to earn SGD for years to come. They never really put in any sincere effort to work. They now have the you-owe-me mentality.

I have suffered under PAP rule for a decade at least. I am unable to get permanent positions due to long history of contract jobs. I swear to Lee Kuan Yew that I will VOTE the PAP out!

I am so pissed with PAP policies. I have nothing to lose anymore. I have no Fear!

Not a surprise..

There are many horror stories out there regarding these Pundeks..

These Pariahs just cannot be trusted..

They're snakes in disguise as Human beings..

Ha Ha.Already these happened 20 years ago, initially one Indian PR but he will bring his whole family and clan and village,brothers-in-law,sisters-in-law,cousins,uncles,aunties.....etc until one day u find that u are working in a Bombay office.LOL.
U think MOM don't know ? Then MOM must be sleeping for the last 20 years ,only when strike, then MOM will wake up and really do some work.
Retrench all the MOM staff !!!Waste taxpayers money !!!

What's even worse is that there are sinkies mostly chinese dogs that will be praising these shit skins to the skies and not only that it's probably "racism" if this was brought out to the press. Shit skins help one another sinkies sabo one another and even help the shit skins but get nothing in return. This is how the situation is like.

Those MOM bastards are farkin sleeping in their jobs..

One chap in the logistic industry just told me a week ago how this Pariah FT Manager terminated few local Mats and Chinese chaps and brought in his fellow Pariah countrymen to replace these locals.. Some of these locals have been workin there for more than 5 years..

These Pariahs are farkin low life scumbags.. I pity those locals who are working side by side with them.. You'll never know when they'll backstab you the back..

No need to retrench them, have to pay benefits at taxpayer's expense...just change the designer chairs to the old wooden chair with high back & rattan seats..many of the 'wood worms" will slowly crawl to the door & out..or eat the chairs.. ha ha ha

I would recommend that they be specially screened and work audited especially for indian engineers. Call me racist or what but this is based on my experience and is also practiced in India. Only over there they call the people that reject them caste-based (and not coz its their fault)...

1. They will con you with their belief that its your fault you did not check. This is especially in their qualifications. Mostly over claimed and quite a few with false certification. Technicians posing as PHD etc..you get the picture...They know they will be caught ultimately but by then already "got the money, got the PR/citizenship, etc etc".
2. Audit the codes. They are very well known to copy codes from "special indian sharing websites". If your engineer cannot explain how his codes work or how he came about with his codes or give strange logic on how he derived the codes, its very high possibility he got it from these websites... I knew this from my engineers that used to boast about how they can get away with this... Worst case is some of these codes are "stolen" from others and are copyright works and/or licensed and you may get sued.
3. Quality of work. They will swear its tested(on mothers name and with tears) but in reality? Wonder why the banks systems are crashing all the time recently?

Incredible india.. ever wonder why hardly any MNCs put capital investments there? Software and PCs don't count.

This isn't racist but neccessary. In fact it's racist to locals to allow these snakes to come in here to spoil the environment. The fucking govt has been racist to sinkies.

i will be impress if he say:

I swear to Lee Kuan Yew that I will PROTEST AND KICK the PAP out!

but we have to face the reality that he is a sinkie and that is how sinkie behaves. his limit is just to vote and that is all he knew in his pathetic sinkie life.

Yes, it started with the locals probably earning some bucks by letting some in...

And NOW, the few that came in now are pulling the rest in in hordes..

Oddly has anyone really done a survey count on how many of them are in the country now? Its usually not only one that comes in, the ONE will bring in children, spouse, father, mother, sister(s), brother(s), uncle(s) and auntie(s) and grandparents etc. And only one is seriously working(if at all), the rest are dependents... I seriously doubt that this is the objective of bringing in FTs.

Voting may be one way to fix the issue but there is no guarantee that new politicians wont do the same.. and installing a new government takes time .. by then the war is lost so to speak.

A better way will be the government fix the fiscal policies to reduce taxes and costs in hiring locals. Make hiring locals comparable to hiring one FT ASAP.

The recent policy ratio of hiring locals to foreigners may work to an extent but it does nothing to reduce costs for the companies. Short term, companies will just do it and it helps the politicians meets the election promise. Medium to long term, this policy only forces companies to look outside of SG to setup shop and I am pretty sure that this is not in line with the objectives the government is trying to achieve.

I fully agree with Anthon Jack and support his actions to expose these leeches and kick the PAP out for flooding us with their incompetent cronies.

Since he seemed to know something about IT systems that these parasites cooked together, he should plant a time bomb in the form of a virus so it gets blamed on them after he leaves.

I have frens in NUS and they too confirm stories like that about these good for nothings.

Once u inject the indian virus into the company, the whole company will be adversely infected. When come to recession, the singaporeans will be the first to laid off while the Indian Foreign staff are protected by the senior Indian Foreign managers.U thinK MOM don't know about this? Then MOM must be sleeping for the last 20 years.

MOM is notorious for championing FDWs to beat sg employers to death even when FDWs are clearly in the wrong.... better offend sgian than put up with foreign embassies!

What fucking govt do we have here? Take our money n help to fight us...

Singapore is like Wimbledon, merely provides venue for others to win. Companies are not coming here to serve the pint size local market, they come to serve the region as flexibility is there compared to setting up in Mudland, pinoyland or Thailand.. Or ah neh land...

Other regional HQ have much more flexibility for instance you can employ any European all over Europe, any gulf national or ft in UAE so big companies expect that in Asia...

For example if IBM, Stanchart, or you name it company employ 100 here, you can bet 80 or 90 exist because their regional operations are here. Local ops are rounding error...

Take away the flexibility, it will be like UK announcing only British can compete in Wimbledon...

Patriotic sinkies upset about flood of FTrash have to play it carefully, pushing their agenda yet strike balance....I totally agree the present balance is not ideal...

Inconvenient but true... don't flame me for pointing this

BTW good sinkies do rise up in such MNCs like HP or HSBC that employ lot of FT... they get to run the whole region, posted overseas also... That chance will not be there if the regional HQ is in shanghai or kl

Just as sinkies don't like working under ah neh, or tiong, Indian or Chinese branch offices too don't like reporting to some sinkie, instead of European or American.. which is the ultimate HQ anyway

Yes, we do have a good many talented sinkies (as fondly called in this forum..) :)

And perhaps rather unfortunately, they are also seeing the MNCs slowly shipping out due to financial and economic factors leading to untenable bottom line reasons. And many of them are opting for overseas assignments as there are lesser challenging positions for them here.

Actually, I have found in many countries and situations, that having a sinkie as a boss isn't too bad. Reason: sinkies tend to be "too nice" and never shout. Try a ah tiong boss or ah neh boss. They will shout, scream and fire the staff on the spot just for the slightest mistake or insubordination. Mostly, Sinkies tend to reason, forgive and let their staff off easier much to the horror of the tiong/neh bosses. Ask any foreign professionals overseas if they have had a sinkie boss and get their frank opinion.

If you have been observing, European or Amerian HQs recently have been slowly and silently taken over by Chinese, Indian and Arabian companies and there will be more to come in the next few months. :) Whats left in the western world are just shell companies.. Just watch some of the major players in the industry in the next few months....

That is true they are much less cut throat...

The primary driver is also size of economy.... When small, they run it from Singapore... When bigger they set up HQ there and don't anymore report into Singapore, so less chance for high paying jobs.. it happened with China, it will happen with India... In fact lots of companies run Singapore from PRC keeping just enough staff here for local sales. When they run it from India it will be fun to see this forum reaction :D

Goldeneye.. Your command of English, placement of vocabulary and grammar suggests you are a NRI.. I am not wrong I take :)

Singapore will never be any organizations key market. As you rightly say, the size of the economy is far below most profitable markets. However, the locality and the ease of business and transparency makes it always the top points for consideration when placing a regional HQ. As much as is HK for China and its surroundings or AD or Dubai for the Mid East states etc.

My take on Chinese companies and Indian companies.
- Chinese companies will retain the HQ back home and run the sales network from there. Exemptions are if they acquire a company which they will retain in that country. Example Huawei, TCL, etc.
- Indian companies on the other hand usually want their HQs to be in London or USA oddly and run the India HQ remotely from there. I suspect its probably due to the "red tape" they encounter at home.

China's success is due to the fact that it recognized the economic opening and captured it quickly. Despite the western media extolling China's lack of human rights and such nonsense, it actually has the formula done up right. If you have been there and witnessed first hand the transformation of some of the cities, you would never have thought that this was a socialist country. Yes, there is corruption and human rights violations, but have you seen any country that does not do that?Hey even the USA has sweat shops in LA using illegal asian and hispanic workers to churn out cheap goods. The bottom line is they got it right and its working for them. It not easy for a big country with a billion people population to mostly move in one focused direction and for that I have to say it is quite a marvel in leadership.

I am certain India shall have its day. It does have its fair share of money and intelligent people.. It just that it will take quite a bit of time and effort to reform its mostly arcane business laws, politics, politicians, infighting, terrorism and threats from the north and undeniable red tape before it can come to that. How many politicians want to work together? How many times do neighboring states threaten to fight? Many companies are afraid to step inside due to such issues. Simply put, money that goes in may never come out again. India's biggest problem is that other nations are coming up quickly after China. Can India keep up or miss the boat again, so to speak? In fact, some of the recent figures in international investment dollars are taking a pass at India and favoring Asean nations for the sheer fact that its portrays stability....

It's good that you recognize china for all that he has accomplished yet the fact of the matter is that for most ppl they refuse to recognize china for its accomplishments. Somehow in the eyes of the western world and the chinese dogs they see china as this backwards place like during the 1920s. All of its accomplishments forgotten all of it's bad things brought up and magnified while it's the exact opposite for the US. Take the recent gun shootings in the US. Has the world condemned the US for it? No of course not. Perfectly fine for the US and the 2nd amendment and the right to self defence thru deadly force via gun ownership. Now all we need to do is change the country. Suppose the incident occured in china instead. The school children were shot dead in china, instantly not only will the laws of china will be critisized and mind you they already do it when hardly any tragedy occurs but all chinese ppl will be called evil. You can bet that what you have written about china will not be widely reported officially and if it does get reported they will add some disclaimer to take away that accomplishment that i have highlighted in red.

I beg to differ on your view on india. Sure india does have some intelligent ppl but so what? China has intelligent ppl and even more. More civilized and so on just that somehow they don't look "white" enough. The fact of the matter is india is still so far behind china. Sorry this isn't the conventional story of the tortise and the hare. The Hare (china) has zoomed past ahead at lightning speed while the tortise (india) has hardly even made any strides. The hare has not even stopped to rest while the damn tortise isn't even making any progress. Is india going to host the olympics? Is india going to send someone to space? How good are india's military capabilities? The only thing india has going for it is to faslely claim it's the world's largest democracy that is totally corrupt and that they look more like white ppl and some of the speak good english cos they used to be a british colony and yet somehow that actually counts for something. Unbelievable.
