She had tagged along with a co-worker as she was worried about his behaviour, but he later tried to molest her in a room in The Fullerton Hotel.
Yesterday, the 26-year-old Australian was jailed for three months.
He had pleaded guilty to using criminal force with the intent of outraging the modesty of his 25-year-old Singaporean victim on Nov 3 last year.
He cannot be named as it could lead to her identification.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Alan Hu told a district court that the two executives had gone to The Arcade in Raffles Place to buy fruit that afternoon.
While returning to their office, he started behaving strangely and talked about negative things at the ground-floor lift lobby. He then ran out of the building.
She caught up with him and he said he needed to talk.
When they passed by The Fullerton Hotel at about 5pm, he said he wanted to sleep there that night.
He booked a room and suggested that she leave but she was still worried about his behaviour.
After a while in the room, she was ready to leave but he said that he still needed to talk.
She sat down. It was then that he touched her knees. She moved away and he touched her shoulders and arms.
As she was about to leave, he grabbed her from behind and pushed her onto the bed. She got up and shouted for help.
She resisted his attempts to pull her to the bed and managed to open the door.
Hotel staff, who had heard her shouts, escorted her out.
The maximum punishment for using criminal force with the intention of outraging a woman’s modesty is a two-year jail sentence, with a fine or caning.
