That would be the worst of three possible scenarios as it would take Malaysia into no-man's land. The country, the second-most modern in Southeast Asia after Singapore, would join the ranks of the turbulent African nations, where power-grabs, coup d'etats and militia rule are common. Fortunately, this is the least likely scenario.

Chances are higher that former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, the prime puppet master in UMNO, will throw his weight behind Muhyiddin, effect a leadership change by 'forcing' Najib to quit, and then shepherding UMNO into the elections on the back of Muhyiddin's pro-Malay battle cry. This way, Mahathir avoids the notoriety and responsibility of bloody riots and flushing the country and his family's myriads of investments down the drain.

The third scenario is that Mahathir might decide to do nothing after all. While he has given Muhyiddin's camp the tacit green light to do the best they can to upset Najib, he has not given the final OK. If after their best shots and Mahathir feels that an 11th hour switch would still be the political suicide that many have warned, he may agree to let Najib lead UMNO-BN into GE13 and hope for the best.

If such a thing occurred it would also be a big headache for Spore which has placed a huge bet on Najib.

Some other UMNO factions are not well-disposed to Spore.

I would love to see the fall of UMNO & BN.
I am sure it will have a knock-on effect on Singapore.

LKY's trip, he not only met Najib but also Rosmah. But did not meet with Anwar, Kit Siang and PAS.

It is well-known that Spore foreign policy always is personality-driven. Spore never treats other countries as countries. Instead, one or two identified leaders are cultivated and expected to then play ball with Spore. Thus, it is Najib in Msia, and it was Thaksin in Thailand. Those who think this is a good approach should then not complain when the same elitist policy is applied to the peasant masses in Spore. In other words, just treat the masses with disdain and disgust.

Not only politicians are identified. The S'pore government also keen to spot key officers in their neighbours' civil service and military. Lots of $$$$ spent on entertaining these officers. MINDEF is known to pick up the shopping bills of selected Indonesian military personnel as well as those of their spouses. We are referring to their shopping visits to well-known brands along Orchard Rd. Not to Mustaffa.

Singapore already got what it wants, the railway land. Too bad for those sinkies throwing money into Johor, when has following pap into foreign land been a great investment? SuZhou, Tianjin?
