re property tax

You must be quite a loser to be unable to get a proper job under such boom conditions.

Not true bro,

i know of someone in his early 40s who had a good degree and was retrenched in the bad times of 2007 but because he was considered too old or too experienced for the positions

He hasnt been re-employed for the last few years thanks to the influx of Fts who soak up all the middle tier PME jobs. He makes his living now by day trading which is a damm risky job.

It serves several function. First is to make sure the rich don't hoard properties and do nothing. Extreme example is china where most cities have yet to implement property tax. You see plenty of rich buying up new properties and not even renting them out, just hoarding for capital gain.

The rich will own a lot more properties, and property tax function more like estate tax, which the pappies have already quietly gotten rid of to serve their own greedy needs.

In fact I think sinkies ought to lobby for capital gains tax on investment properties. Too many rich here are simply living off flipping multiple properties. So don't waste time removing property tax, the way towards a more equitable society is to tax property speculators a lot more than what they are paying today.

then tax the rich only lah if based on such an argument of yours. Why tax the massess? it means ur govt never go the job.

there are some here who will be the first here to say your friend is damm lazy etc etc... all very familiar words to me

GST tax consumption but fucking PAP lie to say that GST would be given to the poor people.Bullshit
and pappies expended so much energy to raise GST. All the publicity and propaganda. Also the effort to collect GST from all the businesses.

Yet if pappies really want to help the poor, the easiest and fairest method was capital gain tax on investment properties. Of course pappies will not do it as almost all of them have multiple investment properties in Singapore.

If no property tax and even when SMRT make $120 Million per annum they still want the poor to pay for increase of bus fare for drivers pay rise. If not how to pay for astrological payroll for Ministers and MPs....

You are probably talking about the internet brigade crowd who have their own agenda

For many aging Sporeans who live in the real world they have eyes to see what is really going on in the "real" world. Even the 60% are having problems & I expect some change. Sporeans look after their own self interests & nothing is more persuasive than being unemployed ;)

KNNBCCB I just received my property tax.

Can anyone give me a reason why I need to pay property tax when I had never rent out my flat nor room ?
Property tax are calculated based on estimated yearly yield if one had sublet or rent their flat. So why do I need to pay
I have already been paying interest for my flat.

My contract job is ending soon, and most likely the company ain't going to renew my contract as they will probably hire ft to replace my current position.
Can I make appeal to mp to be waived the property tax since I wil be out of job soon ?

i was paying some $25k income tax yearly before I retired. Now as retiree shudn't it be fair that govt. pays me a fraction of what I was taxed????

I do agree with the functions you mentioned.but not blanketing it to everyone..i.e. people like me who is not rich, and have a flat is purely to stay not for generating income or investment .
