But in all fairness to you and as additional knowledge too, please be reminded that Women's Charter is NOT exclusively meant for Women as the name may seem to suggest. It also protects Men from violent women as well.
Marriages are solemnized and annulled under that Act.
It could have been called Family Law but isn't possible as there are other laws that concerns family matter too. One good one is custody of children after a divorce. These matters come under a law called the Guardianship of Infants Act.
Battered husbands apply for personal protection under the Women's Charter Act from violent wives.
Personal Protection Orders or PPOs are granted under these statute too.
For your information, men can also use this Act to get the Court to Order their wives to pay them maintenance or alimony.
So please do remember that these is not exclusively meant for women.
