With the COE system an obvious failure, the pap will be forced to review its usefulness.

can the pap consider doing away with COE but instead introduce a policy that require a car buyer to have a car park to buy a car..that serves to control car population as well

is it worth a study?

coe is 4 buying usage of roads ... now u want greedy gahmen 2 want ppl 2 buy carparks sum mor! ... u r giving ah loon gr8 ideas! ...

What failure, they earning big bucks out of it!!!

yes..that's why it is a failure because it causes infaltion to be very high and affects many other areas

If you have already bought your vehicle, high inflation will not affect you one bit.

you missed the point..high COEs cause generally high inflation..cost of transport increased due to higher COE..cost of doing business also go up

They are never going to consider this for 2 obvious reasons:

1. You already need to have a car park for your newly purchased car. Whether it's your home garage, condo or hdb car park, you are already paying or have already paid for it. Scrapping the coe for this is simply removing a source of their revenue. It will be like taking a pound of flesh from them. .

2. The COE is a document that they print out for you and charge you for it. A car park space they actually need to find a space for you. Again, reducing their space is like taking a pound of flesh from them.

where got lost one, it's all long term investment

what you said is what the pap said..but if the investment was bought at $10 and can now be bought at $5..it has lost 50% regardless of what the pap said

do you see the merit of the car park system over the COE system?

It's not a failure. If its is, then nobody will be buying cars because of COE high pricing. Fact is that this is not happening.

NO. Car park or COE system are revenue generating system and serves to line the coffers. This is the objective.
Both system have no other merits.

why don't you see your MP to have your concerns heard and debate in the parliament? hopefully, no friends lobang kena pichar again. ;)

From the revenue point of view which is what this government is mainly about, the coe system is great. More coe, more erp and u can even throw in bcp (buying car parks) too, all these will be great for them.

From the point of view of trying to make Singapore a better place to live and life manageable for ordinary singaporeans, one erp system which is adjusted for timing and areas, should be more than sufficient.

The best is scrap the COE and ERP like someone suggested somewhere in this forum
Let the people decide for themselves whether to be caught in a jam or take other alternatives.
No inflation no high transport cost....car at market price and traveling conditions at your own judgement and adjustment.
High COE or Carpark only benefit the rich and powerful.

Let nature takes its own cost.
Any nature under control is bad.
Take for e.g. Stop At Two..... in this case car population... it makes people unable to adjust or live with nature.
What about those graduate males marrying graduate females did they produce anyone better than the current bunch of army generals?
Even controlling how people vote through GRCs is bad...you will witness this in your life-time soon.
What other natures are not controlled by PAP?
