usually people who hold the concept of self always behaves like this. These people have no merits of serving others but live through a life and doing all the work to make themselves look good.

By a stroke of fortune, they will hold on to their so called blessing and would not allow anyone to dirty it. These people are considered as someone without class. But they always think that if they have the money, then it is equal to class.

Wendy in your case it's true you are related by blood to the family or at least to the father but I understand that your mother isn't legally married to your dad but something like a mistress correct? Then the legally married wife and her kids and family wouldn't consider you family. It's actually pretty common and it would be unusual for the legally married wife to acknowledge her husbands illetimate child. Take Arnold's son from his Mexican maid. I don't think his kids and wife from his legal marriage would accept his illegtimate son.

To be honest some western families are like that too. I would say that it is the rich and influential families that try to project this image regardless of Asian or not. Average families are more lax on it.

Ok I see what you mean. Yeah family image is important especially for those important and in power. Usually if they love the family member say the favorite child of the family did something wrong they will forgive him/her and use money to cover it up
