Why Are Old Car Number Plates In Demand In S'pore

Hearse I have not seen but many years ago, I siamed for an ambulance to overtake my car and spotted the number 5454 on the ambulance. Hope the patient survived.
 
Some of number plate look like English word
like in EA5Y (EASY) purposely rounded the 5 to
look like S. SU51Z (SUSIZ).2 examples i saw.
EM1, EMI boss bid this number.
G7 boss got this number SDY7Y.

Oldest is S followed by SA, then SB,SC etc....
With some exceptions like SH, SZ, SP, SJ, S/CC-CD for special vehicles.

Lau Lee as with his son has 'random' changeable number plates....inconspicuous 4 digits plates....lau lee does not have an official plate anymore since out of cabinet though his son official PM plate is S1.

Most expensive number plates in hk are those without alphabets. The single digits ones being most expensive even the dreaded number 4.
