Excerpt -- SINGAPORE - Singapore cannot afford to go down the path of countries like the United States, where most states clearly belong to either the Democrat or Republican camp and the victorious political party has to chose whose interests to represent, said People's Action Party secretary-general Lee Hsien Loong.

PAP logo is Red and Blue.
Scare tactic from his father does not work and now he resort to bullshit.

Hsien Loong is saying that it wouldnt work for preserving the Lee family wealth that has been massively accumulated since 1960s lah.

Singapore will not go down red, blue or any colors. It just go down flat.

Using the liberal/conservative divide to relate to SG just goes to show how out of touch Pinky is.

Blue and red divisions in SG my foot. The whole of SG is not even the size of the average US state.

He forgot to say "if we go down this way, we will be finished."

Its the usual all or nothing crap. Both the Westminster and Federal model requires representation from both a geographic and population volume basis with the Federal model state interest protection built.

He should examine his party, the quality of his MPs, the cabinet, and his policymakers to decide how to address the loss of seats, votes etc. This all or nothing and the its sister bogeyman of a disaster can no longer be used with the modern generation. They will laugh in the face of such arguments.

Looks at the calibre of people in grassroots and the PAP MP base and one would cringe. Take the case of MP Yeo Guat Kwang. He put in his CV 90 over current roles. Virtually impossible for even a team of 4 to handle and this man was proud of all these offical roles. When this was raised in SBF, he was humilated and he quickly brought it down. Yet he is a power broker in PAP, leading the powerful Chinese Teachers Language faction after his mentor got cooked by a madman.

Between the Westminster model and the U.S. model, he had to choose the US model for example. That is the typical false choice, strawman argument they are good for. Why not come closer and look at the red and yellow shirts in Thailand, or UMNO and the Opp parties in Malaysia? It is really trying to speak with all corners of yr mouth at once isnt it? You have to lead, you cant be taking notes all the time, you need to go out there and convince people to follow dah dah and you have to win elections...No wonder their grassroots are confused. One moment it was pro-business - letting in cheap labour; another moment it is pro-citizens - stemming the flow and pressing forward anti-businesses policies...

In the end, I hope they lose the confidence of all sides. It's the quality of the leaders and none of them are fit to lead.

Pinky is taking cheap shots at the recently concluded USA elections. Jon Stewart daily show did a piece on this topic recently, about the gridlock in government.

The perfect counter example was Arizona, where the republicans have super majority and see what they have done passing all their conservative laws through the state. The show could have also highlight sinkieland as another counter example, but probably decided against it as vast majority of Americans will have no clue where sinkieland is.

Sinkies should learn to live without looking to politicians for leadership. The whole political set up has been ruined by the 2007 bill for mega ministerial salary levels.

It is time for non-partisan citizens to be in charge of their own fate and the fate of other singaporeans. Fuck all politicians.

First you must address the deep infiltration of the PAP machinery into the grassroots, People's Association, civil society, GLCs, all aspects of the economy, etc. They have their fingers in every section of the pie. Gotta get those fingers out first.
