(SAF) training deaths: Views from father of one of the fallen (ST refused to publish)

Re: (SAF) training deaths: Views from father of one of the fallen (ST refused to publ

I remember one of my officers telling me in his 20 iplus years as a career soldier, 4 times he had to wear smart 4 and go to inform parents that their sons has died in incidents.

He said they were the most horrible experiences he's ever had as a human being. I will always remember the cracked voice and pained expression on his face when he was sharing this.

RT as a police man, its part of the job to do that.

its always the police man who will break the bad news to the family at the door step.

It is extremely sad.

No one can prevent tragedies from ever occurring but at least, when they occur, we have to know the death was honorable and not in vain.

Govt of SG has to answer to us, and tell us his death was honorable, for his own countrymen, and not in vain.

In addition, govt should work out a comnpensation package to the family of the deceased. No need millions. Just enough to provide for the family. Bear in mind most families do not have many kids nowadays. The deceased could be their sole breadwinner in their old age.

Yah I know breaking the tragic news is never easy. But as an officer directly or indirectly responsible for those young soldiers' well being, one will be guilt-ridden when facing the parents.

madmansg's mantra comes to mind now....

Nobody questioned MPA?? aren't in charge of the going in & going out in our waters? or the coastline is , what's that again?? each & every commercial vessels coming in or going out need to get clearance from MPA & which route, sector etc.. to take..unless the Navy boat is not suppose to be where it shouldn't be..and then again...who is to be blamed??

our navy is above the law. they can do what they want even it's against the law and MPA cannot say anything. its in the law by the way. remember one Capt Helbert MPA was summoned as specialist witness by prosecution, kena grilled by the defense counsel. even asked what was his O levels result. lol!

i forgot the name of the defense counsel. he is one and only guy who is a lawyer and a Capt. heard he went sailing and eventually became a Captain, then became a lawyer. he is very famous and expensive. famous for maritime law. one and only such guy in sg. that fucking butch OOW should be charged and throw in jail! but navy spent a fortune hiring this guy to defend her. tax payer money all thrown into the sea!!!

Yes, compensation package to replace lost income over the lifetime of the serviceman.

$300K minimum, if the govt has any conscience at all.

Deaths due to war? Mostly unavoidable. - Parents would be sad but they knew their sons had died for a honourable reason.
Deaths due to training accidents or due to complacency? More definitely could be done. - Parents even sadder as sons died for no reason.
