SINGAPORE: Two new-born babies were wrongly discharged to different mothers at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) on Sunday.

The babies have been reunited with their biological parents and are doing well.

KKH said the incident came to light when one of the parents noticed that the baby taken home wore an identification tag belonging to another mother.

The hospital immediately carried out investigations to identify the mothers and babies.

KKH said on Monday that it deeply regrets this error and is now carrying out thorough investigations to find out how this error occurred.

It is extending full support to both families -- medically and emotionally.

Both mothers have been offered counselling by the hospital.

KKH said it takes a very serious view of the incident and it unreservedly apologised to the parents for this error and pledged to take all steps to prevent any recurrence.

A full review is being carried out, and the Ministry of Health has been informed.

Sue the hospital.

In the past, the women, would avoid giving birth at "tek ka", rather use midwives to do the delivery at home for fear that, at "tek ka", you might bring the wrong baby home. So, if your mum had been complaining about you, that you don't look or behave like her..please find out, if it is "tek ka".. ha ha ha ha:D

Usually the nurse will confirm the tag of the baby to the mother before discharging them.

This is what you get when you import truckloads of foreign trash like Pinoys and Burmese into the healthcare workforce
Bet all the Pappies have their offspring delivered in upmarket hospitals like Mt. Elizabeth and Gleneagles

Heads will not roll under Leegime. Remember the HPL and LKY?

Only those that are dispensable to show us they are doing something so we all are satisfied with the action taken. Singaporeans are easily pacified.

Seems odd. Unless the wrong baby was handed over to baby at birth, the mummy would spot the it when they handed the baby over at time of tdischarge. Mother can tell after a few hours of bonding and looking at the features. Interesting case.

The parents were probably too busy trying to figure out how to pay the bills to notice the wrong tags.

You have to check the baby's label on both feet against the parent's IC before you can carry the baby out of the nursary.

That is true. A mother can even tell the difference which is her child just by listening to the cry amongst all the other babies. The mother in this case cannot even tell the child was not hers.

Nobody asked..."guess what race"???

Doesn't matter, bro.

From that country, one would not know if the child is theirs to begin with. Bringing home other people's child as theirs does not make any difference either.

3. must be some foreign talent that cannot read:mad:
4. what apology, just lip service.

the hospital will ask the client to sue the nurse for her own negligience under civil law?
