So far I think I am the only one offering something that is quite credible. I can understand the desire to maintain the anonymity in this forum. Anyone who wants to PM can be assured I have no way to know their identities and likewise I prefer to remain anonymous. I will just pass on names, emails and telephone numbers of those contacts I have and how your dealings with them I have no way of knowing.

My business is in landbanking, F&B and oil&gas. I have good contacts with bankers, car dealers and some people in the shipping industry.

Why are you so keen on people getting your contact?

Just helping out bro. So many here talking about how difficult it is to survive in Singapore. Putting money in the bank is not going to make one rich.

Ok I am about to leave my place now. Talk to you guys later.

Bro, need your help. I work as an arborist with National Parks. I have a colleague who is in the same office and one day while cycling together inspecting trees, he mentioned that he has invested in 5 plots in the UK. He told me about landbanking. He could not explain very well as he said it was recommended by his car dealer.

I am keen to understand more about landbanking. I am thinking about growing softwood and selling to the mills every 5 years.

What are your thoughts.

I am not conventional investor but have investment in a holiday home that I have 1/52 share and also a firm believer in online sales with amway.

We don't supply oil as our business only cover salvaging, building oil rigs, supply vessels and crew on contract basis, towing etc. We have secured a number of contracts for bulk carriers to Pertamina. Our Indonesian partners operate an LPG terminal in Indonesia and they supply LPG gas locally as well.

Ok I was wrong about landbanking as at present the global economy is pretty gloomy and we are not doing well.

My family just bought a property in Cairns about 15 km from the Great Barrier Reef. It is a hotel suite run and managed by the hotel which rents out the place and we pay a management fee.

That is not landbanking. Landbanking is when you buy raw land hoping it will develop some day. That is how people get conned. The landbanking fucksticks cannot get institutional investors to purchase land that has low probability of being developed, so they go half way round the world to asia and market it as an investment/retirement product.

Interesting. There is a good future in methane gas. I don't have the knowledge about investments of oil and gas but I know the demand for methane gas is growing. China is investing heavily in production of DME and so is India and many other countries are interested, including Indonesia.

No I was referring to my earlier post about landbanking.

About the property in Cairns, I was just told by my family about it today. It has nothing to do with landbanking. Neither is Scroobal's post "I am keen to understand more about landbanking. I am thinking about growing softwood and selling to the mills every 5 years." which is also not landbanking.

of course Scroobal was not talking about landbanking. He was talking about something much closer thematically to this thread.

Bro, What you described is timeshare, another lemon. Landbanking is what THBH described. In late 1990s, Maybank in Singapore became a lightening rod for timeshare scams and many people were conned. Half of them still thnk they are holding on to some asset. Amara hotel was another. The authorities had to step in and Maybank closed its entire merchant business because of it.

Here is a tip : walk away when peopl talk about horizon, risk/return, the 3 tiers of risk appetite, promised turns, landbanking, timeshare, CDs, banking instruments, want to introduce their private bankers etc. most of them have no idea what they are talking about. They read it in books or went to see some motivational speaker.

Anybody who has half a brain will not use DBS for anything except for daily banking needs such as ATM withdrawals, Nets etc. The moment you talk about Treasure or DBS private banking, anyone knowleageable will know that the person has no fucking clue about investment or banking.

Singapore elites including the ruling family do not use it for anything serious. Take my word.

Not timeshare. We own it.

You can say that again. Really spoilt for choice. I remember when I followed my mum for my first investment talk. At that time it was called tupperware party. Later she took me to Pyrex party. My mum told me they were worthy investments and I was hooked. I guess I was lucky that she was not a washerwoman but an astute lady. Her only regret was that Singapore was not as developed as the West or else there would be wider opportunities. It was later that we were blessed to have people like Robert Kiyosaki coming our way.

It is challenging keeping up with your dizzying array of investment suggestions :-)
