SINGAPORE: The People's Association (PA) is expecting some 40,000 people to join its first PAssionArts Singing Festival.
The event aims to get Singaporeans to bond through music.
To kick off the festival, 15,000 people will gather at Marina Bay Floating Platform on Saturday.
Smaller singing sessions will be held in the heartlands on various dates till 16 December.
Participants can look forward to belting out oldies and pop hits in Singapore's four official languages.
Volunteers are working hard to get more to join in the chorus.
"Through arts and culture, they make more friends, get to know more neighbours and bond with their families as well," said Mr Nah Juay Hng, group director of Engagement Cluster - Arts and Culture at PA.
"Singing is something that is international, (with) no boundaries, no race, no religion (involved)," said Ms Teo Lin Lee, chairman of Queenstown Community Arts and Culture Club.
