Let's put it simply, the stage has been set tilted and there is nothing new about it, just like the Electoral process... people will continue to whine about "unfairness" but do opposition just say, I don't want to participate in it? No. We will always try to beat the system and WP has beaten the system to breach the first GRC. We fight to become the master of our own destiny, not slave to what others dictate it.

You may have lots of excuses about how Nat Con is set out to be but to shy away from it is just like giving excuses that GRC is unfair and refuse to contest it. You will just become the slaves of the destiny other people (PAP) dictated to you. PAP will be happy if you don't attend and they will have the whole stage to themselves. If you fight and could turn this Nat Con into your advantage, you will once again beat the system.

You compare the NC, produced, directed and acted only by the White Scums and their lackeys to an election under the Singapore Constitution?

I ask for the 3rd time. Do you truly, really, sincerely, hand on heart believe something constructive will come out of the NC?

Proving that there are no independent spirits among the
propagandistic media and that all are one and the same lapdog sharing the the
singular objective of serving their PAP masters, today ran a headline designed
to cast the Workers Party in a negative light.

Reporting on the statement made by Sylvia Lim that Workers Party will not be
taking part in the National Conversation, the freesheet equated the PAP
initiative “National Conversation” with the concept of “Citizen Dialogues”.

This blatant conflagration of a PAP initiative with the citizenry appears
designed to make the Workers Party look small-minded and apathetic towards the
future and welfare of the citizenry. It fails to add the sub-header that Sylvia
Lim had also said that WP MPs or members can partake in the initiative as
private citizens.

Like most reports filed by local reporters who have surrendered their
gumption and soul for political expediency, it fails to examine the possible
rationale behind WP’s decision.

The National Conversation is an initiative created by the PAP, for the PAP
and of the PAP.

Readers will recall that from the outset, the participation of the Opposition
was never on the agenda. The political composition of the NatCon committee was
purely made up of PAP MPs and ministers. Chairing the committee was the newly
minted minister Heng Swee Keat, a move no doubt calculated to promote the PAP as
being on the route to change and discarding tired image of the Old Guards who
could be seen as out of touch with the younger electorate.

The invitation to Opposition Party members came only after public outcry over
this biased composition. The late invitation means that Opposition Party members
are not involved in any agenda-setting. In short: it is afterthought.

If the freesheet had examined the issue from this angle, it would have come
to the conclusion that the Workers Party or in fact any other political party
has no basis to take part in the NatCon.

No political party in the world will help its opponent gain or entrench power
and buy the favour of the electorate unless it is in a country like China where
the so-called eight “democratic parties” congregate under the flag of the
Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in a purely advisory
role.

It is time for us to divorce the concept that the PAP is the government and
the government is the PAP, articulated by its current living autocratic
patriarch Lee Kuan Yew. For there to be a genuine dialogue, the democratic space
should be enlarged. This will require the removal of all the anti-democratic
mechanisms put in place by the PAP to hamper the open discussion and propagation
of views by the citizens including draconian laws like the Internal Security
Act, the Public Order Act, the Broadcasting Act and the Newspaper and Printing
Presses Act. Schemes such as the GRC which has hampered true democratic
representation and helped perpetuate PAP’s hegemony should also be
abolished.

Only then can we citizens feel we have a genuine say and stake in the future
of this country. True dialogue takes place in the Parliament and civil society,
not the confined spaces of a classroom with cardboard and Lego bricks.

I also cannot figure out why they didn't want to attend, really. They should stop thinking that they are only local administrators or local politicians in Hougang and Aljunied who will only focus on these two places instead, they should treat themselves as a party with a National perspective.

They don't want to bring up the mistakes and blunders created by PAP either in parliament or Nat Con.

If they do, PAP will correct them and claim credits. Thus in the eyes of the public, PAP become the good guys.

I am just curious why you keep saying GD is jealous of you. I am not expecting an answer, but I don't see anything you have that others do not. You are a human, so is he. You are an ordinary citizen, so is he. You probably have a house, car and credit card and probably he has too. Jealously comes only if someone has something another person does not have and cannot get.

Seriously, I think the WP should bring up this grossly unfair practice of keeping and locking-up of OUR hard earned Cpf till 65 and beyond.:o It should be returned to us at age 55 as before.
