Mismanaging Singapore, Fighting Wrong Battle

i must have seen you there several times....the prata shop is not bad. but well like most things the standard has gone down....one dollar per piece now....

Is Fann Wong found jogging around there?

They do not understand or did understand but have forgotten the objective/purpose of government, which is to try and make the lives of ordinary Singaporeans better.

It's not really the wrong battle they are fighting or the wrong policies. Along the way, it's inevitable that they will fight a few right battles and get a few policies right. The problem is that their original intention/objective/purpose is wrong. And they need to be voted out so that they will have time to reflect on this as the opposition, and perhaps come back again more humble, empathetic and with the right intention/objective/purpose.

David Marshall In 1994 (when PAP ministers started enjoying their high pay schemes):

I've got nothing against money. I'd like to have money myself! I'd like to have a house and a garden and dogs and a car and a chauffeur but, look, I've got a flat. I've got a swimming pool attached to the flat. I've not even got a car but I use taxis. I have a dignified way of life without being wealthy.

I don't see the necessity of owning a Mercedes-Benz and a swimming pool and a couple of mistresses. I think we've got our values all wrong.

You know $ 96,000 a month for a Prime Minister and $ 60,000 a month for a minister. What the hell do you do with all that money? You can't eat it!

What do you do with it ? Your children don't need all that money.

My children have had the best of education. In fact, I'm very proud of them. One of them is a senior registrar to two major hospitals in Oxford. Another of them is a consultant in European law to the Securities and Investment Board in the United Kingdom. They've had their education. There are no complaints.

I never earned $60,000 a month or $90,000 a month. When I was Chief Minister, I earned $8,000 a month.

Look, what is happening today is we are encouraged to and are becoming worshippers of the Golden Calf.

We have lost sight of the joy and excitement of public service, helping our fellow men. The joy and excitement of seeking and understanding the miracle of the living, the duty and the grandeur. We have lost taste for heroic action in the service of our people.

We have become good bourgeois seeking comfort, security. It's like seeking a crystal coffin and being fed by intravenous injections through pipes in the crystal coffin; crystal coffins stuck with certificates of your pragmatic abilities.

Datok, Well said.

Look what are they doing now ? Locking up of OUR Cpf money. Instead of giving us back by age 55, they extend the withdrawal age to 65 and beyond. This is infuriating to poorer citizens like us. !!

It seems obvious that the country's rulers did not co-ordinate the various municipal facilities to cater to the large influx of emigrants to the country.

Remember when u once praised the education ministar in this forum for removing banding of schools?
This is one of those policies that they probably just about got right, after of course getting it wrong previously.
Once in a while, they are gonna getting something right here or there.
The point is that they need to be voted out and become the opposition, and not get back into government, until they get the objective/purpose right.
The occasional right battle or right policy is not important.

HSK has the courage to do the right thing and reverse a bad policy.

LHL doesnt have the courage to admit that his great influx of cheap foreign workers is flawed.

Yes, the whole pap has to be booted out for the sake of SG

It's never about whether they can get things right or not. I've no doubt that they can. Not because I've faith in their ability but because it's so bloody easy to run a cuntry no larger than 710 km² with Confucian precepts embedded in the mindsets of the people while being a parasitic tax haven. There's no PAP in Malaysia. Yet, the Chinese there control as much as 70% of the country's economy despite comprising less than a quarter of the population. There's no PAP in USA either. Nevertheless, Chinese Americans have among the highest median household incomes in the country. I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again: the PAPzis aren't merely misguided. They are malevolent.

You speak as though HSK gives a damn about right and wrong. Sinkies are daft, alright.

Not as individuals.
But the mindset and behaviour that has been passed down and inherited, maybe.......................................
If you don't know what I mean by this mindset and behaviour, I can quote it again.
Please tell me that u remember.

Yes, it is easy to run a small country like SG, with its citizens brainwashed by the education system and controlled media.

But the pap made a mese of it and the people realised that their trust has been misplaced. The people has woken up and from now on, it's going to be difficult for the pap to win the people's hearts and loyalty
