MORE than $11 million in donations was raised in this year's President's Challenge.

The amount, achieved despite "challenging times", was chalked up from direct public contributions and more than 40 fundraising events, said the charity drive's steering committee in a statement.

Fifty-five organisations will benefit from the amount raised, up 40 per cent from the 39 last year.

A reception will be held this evening at the Istana to thank individuals, institutions and organisations for their support.
