Give Fandi the Job

why fandi? i like him as a footballer but i dont think fandi any good in management. A person who cannot handle money do not have it take to be a team manager.

Coach don't need to worry too much about money lah. Leave the money matters to the accountants. Like a CEO or a COO, a coach need to make sure he develops the right tactics to win given the contraints of a lackluster team and budget. Fandi was an excellent player on the field, has some experience playing for international teams, so it is possible he got more exposure on the field than the average pen pusher coach. A coach can then tailor training towards executing tactics successfully.

Heard of Gary Lineker? Also another striker turned coach. He has an eye on how to get the goals, then he tailors training towards tactical aspects of the game.

lineker more famous as a talking airhead for bbc than as a coach.

fandi weak in the mind, easily sway by others. look at his achievement as a coach, other than winning the sleague, he didnt make it after he left sleague.

does not mean being a good footballer = good coach. shearer brought newcastle to championship after owner sack the previous manager and install fan fav shearer as manager.

Agreed. I don't know if Fandi could do the job, but I felt the powers that be did not consider him because he lacked coaching experience. One doesn't have consciously choose coaching as a career to be a great coach. A player too could be a good one, but as you rightly pointed out, it depends more on the individual.

Excuse me, Fandi wasn't a great player by any means. I watched him play many times. There were many occasions he walked.

Not all good players are good coaches and vice versa.

I don't know if you really watch football or the hairy balls of your PAP Masters...

You expect Fandi to run non stop with him pumping his fist for the whole of 90 mins?

All good players know how to conserve their energy in a game.. They'll only strike when it matters most..

See the Brazilian legend Romario.. He was one of the laziest player in the Brazilian World Cup team then.. He practically walked the whole match and you would never see him in helping his team mates in defence.. But he was deadly in an opponent's penalty box..

If kinana is in charge of sourcing the next sg team coach, he will give the job to some lee-lated person or some ex-saf general lah. No need experience, just need guan-xi.

He'll put Lionel De Souza in charge of the National team..

Now its give Fandi the job. When he does not deliver the same people will say give Fandi the chop.

Yes true. If a true blue team with a true blue sinkie coach tried their best and still gotten last, I will still be cheering my support until I go hoarse alongside my true blue sinkies

Nope, its a sheer lack of fighting spirit on his part. Thats why in EPL, you walk you get sacked, its that simple. You never stop running until the game is over.

Have you actually watched Fandi play?

Why GIVE Fandi the job?

He was a good player but what are his credentials in a manager role?

I'd rather Fas hire a reputable European manager with Asian experience and a local assistant manager as his understudy (like the sir Bobby robson and Mourinho partnership at Barca).

The new manager (maybe football director) must have experience to oversee the youth system and grow new talents in the medium term. No more imported 42 year olds in the national team please!

Sinkie players are very similar to Spanish players: short in stature, weak in shooting power, lacking in pace and stamina. Nothing suits the Sinkie kittens more than a manager well-versed in Tiki Taka. My recommendation is Josep Gombau of the Hong Kong club Kitchee.

Replacing Raddy will never help. Even if we hire Jose Murinho also won't help. Just look at the way the players played. Don't be naive.

This one I agree, what should we do? get a coach that knows the local scene well enough but have an International Playing experience, Fandi Ahmad fits the bill. But, can he perform well as a coach of a Country Soccer Team..this, we must let him try. :p

Sinkies have no loyalty :D

They should hire an FT who is already based here.
Former England international, played for top clubs, played in the world cup, was once voted manager of the year in the second tier of English football,

His assistant: R Sasikumar

Steven Tan is the better coach imo. :D

Won't work. First of all, singkies don't have the skill or brains to play tiki tika. They can't even run into positions as you can see in last night's match much less know the intricacies of tiki taka team work.
Notice also that Kitchee scored thru angmos. I think we can indeed learn from Kitchee and import more FTs to do the job.

What will you call that team?

That joker is a white trash. Him and his useless son are personae non grata at the Singapore Cricket Club. :D
