Every Filipino child in school is taught that the Filipinos belong to the Malay race. 'Malay race' here a broad category referring to tribes inhabiting to the Malay archipelago: Philippines, Malaya, Singapore, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Bali, Timur, Sunda Islands.
