PRC RESIDENT COMPLAINS ABOUT SINGING SOLDIERS ON ROUTE MARCH

TRS reader Wu Chen who is currently an international student studying in NUS says that he was woken up after midnight by loud singing from this column of soldiers on route march. He says they were so loud that he could hear them from his home on the fifteenth storey of a HDB block in Marsiling Drive.

He said:

"Why are there route marches through residential areas?
"This group of soldiers were singing at the top of their voices and it was after midnight in a residential area.
"I was asleep and their singing woke me up. These people are so inconsiderate and I hope they would not make so much noise in the future.
"They woke the neighbourhood up and caused a nuisance.
"I understand singing is good for the morale of our soldiers but shouldn't this be done on SAF training grounds?
"It took about a minute for the column to march past the area.
"This is totally uncalled for. Why is this even happening in the first place?"

SAF should do away with forcing recruits to sing songs while marching from one point to another. It's plain stupid and make them all look like morons! I don't find those bloody crappy songs a morale booster at all. I used to like that song, "Hai O" during school days. But after my BMT, whenever I hear that song, I just want to smash the fucking radio!
