Bicycle barriers have been installed near the lifts on the ground floor of blocks 62 to 65 in the Bedok Sunflower Estate, off Bedok South Road.

Intended to deter irresponsible cycling in the void decks, the barriers were installed in April this year. Bikers who insist on cycling in the void deck face a hefty $5,000 fine.

But the Disabled People's Association has come out strongly against this initiative. Its president, Mr Nicholas Aw, feels that even if wheelchair users don't find the barriers a hindrance, it is still inconvenient to others, like the visually impaired.

Read the full report in The New Paper on Tuesday (Oct 2).

Brainless thoughts by our beloved gahmen civil serpants,
one solution for all, but they never think of the disable
peasants!!

Just like all overhead bridge just because one idiot
bang on the metal railing got injured, one rule for all,
ban all cyclists cycling on the bridge, Notice should
indicate :"Please cycle with care, if bridge is too crowded
please push your bike" This should be the Notice@!

Aiyoyo, these silver serpents can't even solve such simple issues and you want to pay them million dollars salaries to solve problems when they incease the number of two legged ( assuming no handicapped like their thinking) inhabitants to 6 million or more?

And to think that on one hand, they are spending MILIIONS to create a BARRIER FREE living enviroment while on the other, they are spending MILLIONS AGAIN to put up barriers into the living enviroment ! LOL

These type of useless ideas very common. Even more common is to hack and build and rehack and rebuild. Confirm they will hack the whole thing again to rebuild a "Wheelchair friendly Bicycle Barriers" after reading this. Of course can do this all the time, not their own money what?

Any idea when they would hack and rebuild their brains using their own expenses from their own pockets?

And Sinkie would have thought brompton folding bicycles were just a 'one off case' of purchasing failure!!! LOL

Another stupid idea by those brainless PAP fucktards..

Drove to Bedok South 2 weeks ago and saw a banner informing the residents of the upcoming block visit by Zorro Lim there..

This bicycle barrier design stupid idea should be the brainchild of this CB mouth Zorro Lim and his merry band of Bedok South RC Por Lumpars..

Zorro like many other PAPzi MPs have been double dipping into tax payers money with minister salary and salary from NTUC. This utterly useless golfer will have brought home at least $50 million in salaries and bonuses by the time he retires around 2016. There are hundreds like him who are part of the PAPzi regime. No country especially one as small as Singapore can afford such high ministerial and civilo servant salaries for such a long time without the lower and middle income paying through their sweat and blood for the rest of their lives.

Knn when PAP can't solve problems please don't create another problem !!

Wasting town council money/time/manpower and inconvenient to user.
This is one of the most stupid ideas from town council.

Remember the time they put in the water fountains at Bedok Central like the ones we see at Bugis...water spraying up for the kids to play. Well after a few months, the fountains stopped working and it was eventually dismantled. Freaking waste of public funds.
