Another pet peeve: the HDB estates have restricted the auctions by limiting the sound volume and time of the event.

Which can be easily bypassed by inviting a PAP MP to attend. I've seen it happened a couple of times at different parts of Singapore.

If any forummers could produce some pictures of the getai from the 60s would be good for nostalgia.
There used to be many itenerant hawkers present close to these shows.
We should not forget our humble past.

i can't produce pictures but i remember in the 70s around Chinatown area they were Cantonese wayang & not getai like today, street hawkers of course there, i remember the hofun with the sliced green chili was very shiok! in the end we just went for the food

Nowadays getai is not like the olden days.Men MC dress as ladies and even exposed their breast thinking is funny to thrill the audience.Not forgetting pole dancing also featured in certain getai. What culture are we talking here? Language spoken also getting vulgar. Furthermore,are singers allow to go down from the stage and sing in the crowd? Is there any rules and regulations?

maybe SBF should start a 中元会 with all the samsters here involve. got jai tok and getai. anyone prefer puppet show or Chinese wayang???

Can someone enlighten me. Read in the papers, the younger chopstick sister just sang 3 song at a getail and received about 200 ang pows.Will this ang pows be tax????
