Wow, what a magnificent presentation by LHL last night. The only thing lacking – the event should have been held in The Forbidden City! He, like the Ming and Qing emperors were surrounded by eunuchs and imperial bodyguards. Do you know why the Ming and Qing dynasties collapsed? One of the reasons was because the emperors chose to surround themselves with incompetent officials and kept themselves within the walls of the Forbidden City! They were absolutely oblivion to what was happening in the outside world. Just like the eunuchs, the audience laughed themselves silly yesterday at virtually every moment of LHL’s speech. Was it really that funny? I certainly don’t think so!!
It is this type of orchestrated propaganda that brings down empires! Why orchestrated? Previously, it used to be a one-man show. This time round, the act got three “special guest stars”. Still, the plot stinks like hell! The truth is, Emperor Lee should really get down from his high horse and check with other constituencies other than Teck Ghee. Only then, will he FINALLY discover how hostile the ground has become for PAP. Instead, he has been hidden from ALL the truths and still thinks that it’s not too late for PAP to change. This is why I envy shareholders rather than citizens! One wrong move by the company’s CEO, we can boot him out in next year’s AGM. But as a citizen, we can only exercise our voting right once every five LONG years!!
Why do I call it an orchestrated propaganda? Because they keep harping on our growth in the past! There is no doubt that Singapore has been transformed from a third world to a first world country. But going forward, does PAP have any idea how to MAINTAIN a first world status? I mean just ask Kodak or Nokia. Back in the good old days, they were invincible and held the no 1 spot for a long time. Look at where they are right now?! One filed for bankruptcy and the other has been making huge losses after they lost their pole position to APPLE. We hate to see Singapore ending up like Kodak or Nokia.
And what was the crazy point about money having nothing to do with marriage or parenthood? You mean to tell me if the government is sponsoring your wedding dinner and giving you $50,000 for a baby, you will still be unmoved? Of course such drastic moves are absolutely unnecessary! What the government simply needs to do is make it a law to work 5 days. Though the government and its statutory boards are all happily working on a 5-day week, there are many, many of us who are still working on 5.5 or even a 6 day week! The Manpower Ministry has to come out and legitimize a 5-day work week. Any work done on the sixth day will be paid 2x OT and any work done on the seventh day will be paid 3x OT. This is the true way to achieve work-life balance and it will even help to create more jobs!!
The problem with this damned government is, everything is pro-business! If they do this, they scared it will raise the costs of SMEs. Even when they want to give paternity leave, they are also scared how SME can cope! Hello, you are the god-damned government! You are responsible to the people, not to just a few millionaires!! You have already shown us such bad faith with your handling of Dr Woof-Woof’s case, what more can we expect from you?!
You want to know why yesterday’s brainwash will never work? Because PAP is still power-hungry! You can come out with 1,000,001 plans, as long as you have GRC in place, you will never show any conviction towards a REAL CHANGE. Just like a friend of mine, who has been harping on finding a new job for the last 5 years. During that time, he sent out less than 100 resumes. After I convinced him to quit first, before a new job can be found, he sent out more than 200 resumes in two months!! When your back is finally up against the wall, then you will know exactly what is the RIGHT thing to do! Now, PAP is just “testing water” with these supposed new plans. Only by removing GRCs, will PAP finally sit down and pick GREAT candidates to join them, rather than YES-men to join them!!
You know what is the most ironical part about yesterday’s rally? LHL highlighted, “Hope, Heart and Home” that’s exactly what we have been feeling so far, “NO Hope, NO Heart and NO Home!!!” You want to start everything afresh? Take GRC off the table and we will start to talk about business immediately! If not, these sort of pretentious theatrics can only con a 3 year old child, not the good people of SINGAPORE!!
