Manchester United appear to have beaten rivals Manchester City to the signing of Universidad de Chile striker Angelo Henriquez as the player is reported to have undergone a medical.
Henriquez, 18, has impressed Sir Alex Ferguson enough that the United boss has moved quickly in a bid to finalise a deal while the player is in Europe with Universidad's youth team.
Universidad assistant manager Sebastian Beccacece revealed that Henriquez is currently not "available" for the club, adding to speculation that a transfer is in the pipeline.
"No doubt he is a very useful player, with a good goalscoring talent," Beccacece told Radio ADN, "but we have to count on the players that we have available, not the ones that aren't available."
Henriquez is currently a part of Universidad's youth squad, who are playing in numerous friendlies, including the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland. The striker scored 11 goals in 17 league appearances in 2012 and starred in both the Apertura competition and the Copa Libertadores after the departure of Eduardo Vargas.

I'm really for the club signing young talents with potential to excel in the EPL. Whether they pan out to be duds or superstars is a side issue. What really bothers me is the fact that we're still depending on players who should be playing Sunday golf.
If City refuses to make a bid for RVP, Vieira's and City's reputation will be in tatters. After all, they were the ones who made the first move on the player just as they did with Nasri and Tevez. They have 5 days left to show their hands.

Man Utd agree Van Persie deal
Manchester United have agreed a deal for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, subject to a medical and personal terms.
Sir Alex Ferguson has made the capture of the striker his main priority this season and agreed terms on a deal that will reportedly be worth over £20 million.
A statement on the Man Utd website read: "Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin Van Persie. The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course."
Van Persie, 29, revealed earlier this summer that he would not be signing a new deal at the Emirates - with his current contract ending in the summer of 2013 - and cited a lack of ambition from the club's owners in the transfer window.
A statement on Arsenal's website read: "Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move."
When asked by TF1 if he would replace Van Persie, Arsene Wenger replied: "We already recruited to replace him. It's sad to lose a player of his quality. He had a year left on his contract so we didn't have the choice."
Despite the presence of Wayne Rooney, Federico Macheda, Bebe, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in his squad, in addition to Berbatov, who has been widely tipped to leave Old Trafford, United have sought out a new striker.
The Red Devils initially lodged a bid for Van Persie last month, but this was turned down by the Gunners amid further interest from Manchester City and Juventus.
However, City never followed up an initial inquiry, while Van Persie made it clear he was not interested in a move to Serie A.
Having taken the unusual step of confirming a bid for Van Persie on United's pre-season tour of South Africa, Ferguson is then said to have intervened in a deal that was in danger of stalling by speaking directly with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Although Wenger did not want to sell his star man to a rival club, he realised the Gunners were in a tricky situation, with supporters turning against their former favourite during a pre-season encounter with Cologne on Sunday.

Fergie: Strike options now as good as '99
Sir Alex Ferguson believes the signing of Robin van Persie will give him a strikeforce to compare with the prolific quartet who helped fire Manchester United to Champions League glory in 1999.
United have had a £24 million bid accepted for Arsenal captain Van Persie, who is likely to complete his move to Old Trafford on Thursday.
Ferguson expects the Dutchman to make his debut in Monday's match at Everton, where he could join Wayne Rooney in a partnership comprising the two top scorers in the Premier League last season.
"They are two fantastic players and it's great to have the both of them," Ferguson said. "It's great to have a player of Van Persie's qualities coming into the squad. He is on his way up from London, he will have a medical later this afternoon and we hope that goes according to plan.
"His agent is in talks with David [Gill]. Hopefully everything will be tied up by the end of the day. I am sure he will be available for Monday's game."
Together with Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, plus Shinji Kagawa, Ferguson feels he has a group of forwards to rival the class of 1999.
Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke started the Champions League final win over Bayern Munich, while Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer came off the bench to score the goals.
Ferguson added: "If you go back to 1999 season and we had Dwight and Andy and Teddy and Ole Gunnar - the four best strikers in Europe - and we are getting back towards that now.
"We have got Chicharito, we have got Wayne, we have got Robin, we have got Danny Welbeck and we have got Kagawa. That is a fantastic combination of players. Hopefully I pick the right combinations."
Ferguson was speaking as Manchester United announced a three-year partnership with bwin, now the club's official gaming partner.

Throwing good money away for a 29 year old player but methinks it is well below the price tag of 24 million pounds reported. Well, RVP is now a Red Devil, we'll just have to get behind the player,the team and cheer them to the finish line.

U can include all the the under 21 in the first team but I think Fergie will give Powell the opportunity to shine this season. I think Bebe will be put out on loan again and Fergie may keep Macheda in the first team. I think it's Macheda's last chance and that goes with Anderson too if there are no bidders for him. For these two players, it's either boom or bust.
If Nani continues to drag his feet with the contract extension, he will remain on the selling list. Methinks Utd will get tough on the negotiating front.
We're really thin at the back with no cover for Evra in particular. Here we go again.......

Manchester United have announced a partnership with European bookmakers, Bwin.
The company, who also sponsor Real Madrid's playing kit, will integrate their services with United's official website and provide betting opportunities to fans at Old Trafford.
Norbert Teufelberger, Co-CEO of Bwin’s parent company bwin.party, told the club's official website: “Manchester United is one of the biggest names in world sport with a global fan base running into hundreds of millions. We share a passion for football that has always been at theheart of our long-term brand development strategy.
"Football is fundamental to our long-term success, making up approximately half of our total sports betting revenue of €261 million (£205m) in 2011.
"As well as supporting our real money gaming business, the agreement complements our recent move into social gaming.
"United has 569 million followers outside of Europe, providing us with a great opportunity to offer jointly designed and innovative products in countries that do not yet allow real money online sports betting."
The Red Devils did not disclose how much the three year-deal is worth to them but commercial director, Richard Arnold was enthusiastic over the agreement.
He added: "Bwin has an established and reputable reputation in online gaming in Europe and Manchester United is pleased to be bringing that model to not only the 76,000 football fans who visit Old Trafford for every game, but also our huge global audience."Like Manchester United, Bwin is a leader in its market.
