Wah, very rare to see this price for a plate of chicken rice

There are even some places selling at $1.20, usually at bus interchanges or mrt stations.
What you get is a "special version of ayam penyet", the chicken is really "smashed".
In some cases, all you get is a few chicken strips.
my downstairs kopitiam chicken rice stall got sell $1.20 chicken rice ... a few strips of chicken is all chicken meat u get ...

Review:

Spoil market...rival chicken rice sellers whose business affected ganged up and amushed him

They met him at the cul de sac? or they organized a blanket party with , colgate ( or darlie/darkie) and black kiwi shoe polish!

that's too far fetched.......
using cheaper frozen chicken perhaps?
Perhaps..i do know of some whoLesaLers doing @$3.50 per chick of ave 1.6kg; many of which are daiLy snapped
by by Ayam penyet vendors..

How can we get fresh chickens here ( Geylang, Joo Chiat, excepted)...all are FROZEN!
no lah....chicken rice sellers use fresh chicken...........fresh as in freshly slaughtered refrigerated...as opposed to freezer frozen types. Even supermarkets sells both versions.

I thought they sold 'smelly tofu' at Khong Siak Street? or People's Park Complex? in Chinatown?? so, they used blanket, tooth paste & shoe polish, or knuckle dusters?

I tried before, really shred the chicken to pieces to match its price. The photo looks great but actual portion sucks. May be with two thinly sliced cucumbers included if you are lucky. The soup may not be included, even if it does, it will taste plain like mineral water. I can't remember the last time I was treated with this kind of price. However. the $1 laksa at "somewhere forgotten" where you eat with only spoon is truly a gift for that price.

This $1.50 chicken rice is now under PAP's radar for the next GE to serve our aunties at rallies, provided they keep the price under $2.

There goes to show is if price of store rental is cheap, price of food can be cheap too.

Xing Zai was the first Hongkie to come over to sell HK style smelly tofu.......his first stall was at chinatown complex HC......very popular with long queues but other stallholders (probably jealous) found fault with him citing the smell.
Later escalated to stall kena vandalized and blanket party......later moved to current location at GL lor 43

Why am I not surprised? Singaporeans have no talent to engage in free and fair competition.
