"if you're going to san francisco"....caused me to end up studying, working and living in the sf bay area. it also brought a whole new generation of young americans from all over america from all walks of life to congregate in the beautiful city by the bay and stay for good. out of these migrants, we have hewlett and packard, noyce who became the father of the transitor and integrated chip, wozniak and jobs (he was born there, but his mom made the long journey to have her baby there), yang who studied at stanford and started yahoo, page and brin who studied at stanford and founded google, elon musk who came from south africa and started x.com which led to paypal and now a proud ceo of tesla motors which he co-founded, and numerous others including netscape founder, fairchild founders, schlumberger, seagate, intel, amd, tivo, cisco, brocade, juniper, arista, sun, oracle, peoplesoft, etc. it's endless. everything here gels, and the atmosphere is spectacular for inventions and discoveries. flanked by two premier schools, stanford and cal, there are also numerous state universities, uc santa cruz, colleges, u of santa clara, ucsf, uop, etc.

most, if not all, of queen's songs are mind-bending soul-stirring inspiring. bohemian rhapsody, we are the champions, don't stop me now are at the top. too bad freddie mercury succumbed to aids.

In my case, it was working for 2 years in Santa Clara that changed my outlook towards life forever. It was a revelation. I realised that all the pride I had in the "Singapore way" was seriously misplaced and I was never the same again.

The song that I associate with my time there is "Reunited" by Peaches and Herb. I don't really like the song. It's just that it was played over the airwaves ad nauseam.

Petula Clerk sang Downtown made me moved to Orchard road

This event inspired me to take up hip hop dancing.....

wow! santa clara. so close. didn't know you're inspired here too. kbay and koit are still playing it ad nauseam. the other two on constant replay are "california dreaming" and "hey jude".

do u wear flours in ur hair? ...

flour in hair means you're messing with the baker's daughter, or for the case of raider, his wife. the flower power generation came about the same year the song became a hit. it was the peak of the vietnam war.
