Do you think we would have a statue of Winston Churchill on our family altar instead of some Asian Deity? Churchill who embraced a strong British Empire and scorned at all this independence of ex-colonies would be the right person to take this honour. Life will definitely be much better if Stinkieland is still under British rule.

The same goes for Indonesia if it's still under Dutch rule.

The same goes for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia if they are still under French rule.

The same goes for Philippines if it's still under American rule.

The Japanese would have a second attempt to occupy South East Asia. The key reason why the Brit, the French and the Dutch gave up on their ex-colonies was that it was impossible and outside their means to provide military protection for lands so far away from home. Even Britain in its heydays depended a lot on the Indian Army to provide protection to its colonies in Asia.

If all these ex-colonies want to turn back the clock, the colonial masters would not want it. Already the immigrants amongst their midst have already given them enough problem to solve. Would they want to add on to that? It seems that every country has jumped into the bandwagon with regard to FTs. Europe is no different.

I am already in the 4th Gen Singaporean and love Singapore more than you.Or perhaps longer gen than you here!We stay in solidarity with China is just like the Brit did the same to Aussie,Kiwi,and the American and I dont see anything wrong with that.

one key reason is the western countries were forced to do so. the UK, France and others were all bankrupt after ww2. they cannot afford to hold onto their colonies. also the rise of nationalism in Asia after ww2. the US ( for her own interest ) also put very heavy pressures on them to give up the colonies.

The colonies made money for them, not drain money sir.
What really drained money was Tibet and Sinkiang.

My own opinion SG situation is better split from British.
Some country become worse.
Like India,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Myanmar,Nepal,Nigeria,Kenya,Uganda,Sudan all those in Africa and South Asia.

Others is better like SG, Malaysia, N. Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Canada........................mostly in Oceana.
