Dear NSF/Parents/Friends/Readers, my name is Kang Xue Ming & this is a true story.
I have dragged this matter for a year before posting as I chose to believe in giving people second chances and I also dont want my family to worry about me. However, for the benefit of all enlisting-NSF/Parents, I have chose to step up as I dont want another NSF to experience the same situation or ever suffer in silence.

On 26 July 2011, CSM Cheok Thiam Soon wanted to borrow SGD$5000 & promised to return in 2 days time.
I was reluctant to lend him, but pressured by the fact that I needed his signature for my ORD clearance.
Cheok went on & used his authority by saying, 'Dont worry, I'm your CSM & you'll be able to find me if anything happens.' Therefore, I lend Cheok the sum as though I was following an order that my superior gave.

After dragging the repayment for 2 months with all sorts of excuses, nothing was yet returned.
He negotiated to pay me $2k in Nov & $3k in Dec after selling his flat.
I could only agree as that was the only thing I could do.

Nov, Cheok couldnt raise $2k & paid $900 instead.
Days before deadline in Dec, Cheok asked me for another $1k & will pay me back in full by deadline.
I rejected him as there is no way I will lend him money even if I had money.
By Deadline, Cheok failed to pay me back yet again.
Cheok confessed that he owes alot of people money, wont be able to pay me back & pleaded for a last chance where he starts paying me by installment starting Jan 2012.

Jan 2012 deadline came, Cheok was uncontactable.
Few weeks later, Cheok called saying that he was possessed for the whole of 2011 & accumlated huge debts.
Apparently, Cheok needed to clear his credit debts which had interest before he can return me, but couldnt give me an exact date. Since Cheok didnt get back to me, I couldnt wait any longer.

Feb 2012, I filed Police Report, called up Mindef Hotline & went to LianHeWanBao to seek any form of help. Cheok paid me $500 immediately after having an interview with the reporter & said he will continue installments of $500 by May. It gave me a glimpse of hope that everything will be back on track so long Cheok pays back.

May & June 2012, Cheok disappoints me by dragging & not paying up.

July, I was shocked to hear that Cheok was even promoted from StaffSergeant to MasterSergeant.
How did someone like Cheok get promotion after such incident? Why is Cheok still in SAF??
Why is Cheok not in DetentionBarracks? What if another falls prey to his lies??
I start to question what exactly did Mindef/SAF do as they didnt get back to me regarding Cheok's punishments or follow up if Cheok did actually pay me back.
For this reason, I continued to pester Cheok just to get back what is rightfully mine & he only returned me $500 out of the supposedly $1.5 that had accumlated.


PS: I am not from a rich family. The moment I entered Army, I set out to become a sergeant as I knew it was the only way to save up for my University tuition fees. However, it was definitely a lesson for me to be scammed at the end of the 2 years by none other than a regular,my CSM Cheok Thiam Soon.
I have run out of ideas of how to deal with this situation & will thank anybody who can give me legal advice regarding this case.

1. one thing for sure: i would not lend money to someone who is my superior.
2. yes, i don't even need to blink some eye doing that!
3. no is just a flat no.
4. if the other party refuses to pay or return the borrowed amount.

30yo CSM? i bet just a 2nd Sgt with local promotion to first/staff Sgt. not i one bamboo knock down everyone but i view all those regulars who stuck in training centres as henta kaki type, be in BMTC, School of whatever etc etc...

that sgt also no brain, lend $5k just to get ord clearance sign? if he had done everything swee swee, the csm die die had to sign. S1 branch also want to make sure everyone ord on the actual date, who want to write report? study so much still dont use brain.

You also won't believe the amount of canteen/tea/coffee/afternnon/gym/swimming pool/mess hall breaks the people at MINDEF take during working hours.

Doesn't matter what rank you are, which service branch, which department, whether you're young or old, male or female, civilian or military employee. They are all fucking slackers whose wages are paid for by taxpayers' money.

They don't give a shit about the peasants. Sure, you can make a trip down to the police station, make a report. And then what happens? The case won't be investigated. Or they'll make a half-hearted investigation, file the case as 'unsolved' or 'no action necessary', then forget all about it.
