Posted: 10 July 2012 1828 hrs

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 20-year-old man who is believed to be responsible for several cases of outrage of modesty reported in Ang Mo Kio.
Since early this year, police have received reports from women aged 20 to 41, who were molested in lifts in Ang Mo Kio.
The culprit would enter the lift at the ground floor and molest his victims as they were exiting the lift.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division analysed the crime patterns and mounted ambushes at various locations in a bid to apprehend the suspect.
The officers' efforts finally paid off when they managed to establish the suspect's identity following extensive enquiries and investigations.
On July 9 at about 4pm, the 20-year-old suspect was located and arrested in the vicinity of Telok Blangah Road.
Preliminary investigations indicate that he is involved in at least three such cases.
The suspect will be charged in Court on July 11with the offence of Outrage of Modesty.
If convicted, he could be jailed up to two years, fined, or caned.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police, Keok Tong San, advised the public to be attentive to their surroundings in public places, and if a stranger rushes in as the lift door closes, they should press "Door Open" and take the next lift.
