Just received very heavy news today. A new friend we got to know recently, we heard he had placed deposit for many units in China. He recently came to Johore through another friend and understood he was keen to come into Johore and in fact was already in the process, the last i heard. Only saw him once and remembered he kept saying he was glad to meet me. According to a good friend, his body was found in a river in SG today. I truly wished it was a joke. RIP.

I just feel so sad for his family, young kids, a very promising career.

Those who put their money in Casino, end up jumping off from top of Casino building.

Those who put their money in China, end up jumping into the river.

I am curious too on how to reach the MACS counter at CIQ Causeway from JB Sentral.

The usual way will be to reach it, on the way in from Singapore.

The question is how to do it the reverse way.

U need to exchange pass at the immigration building and walk reverse way back to MACS counter ...
I did it before , very tiring ....
So either renew during macs mobile counters during school holidays or take bus which are easier ...

I thought Danga Bay is for those holding MM2 only.
Anyway, I parked in City Square! Have breakfast at Old Town and than take a stroll across the bridge to do it.

Actually there is another place where you guys can do your MACS. The last time I renewed mine was about two months ago. The office is located at CIQ Arrival Car itself.

When driving into JB CIQ, take the left most lane. After you have cleared the immigration counter, park your car at the inspection pit that is not being utilised (the place where they check your car boot). Alternatively, you can park at the chevron area which I did the last time as there were cars parking there (near the zebra crossing). The office is on the left, the one with MACS sticker pasted on the door. Once inside, turn right and you can see another door with shoes outside. Go into that office but remember to take off your shoes if not get scolded like me. Hehehe...

I think that MACS office (original) is for visitors arriving via bus whereas the one mentioned by Equinox is for visitors arriving JB by car.

I checked with one of my colleagues who frequents JB. He said he still see poeple parking there to do MACS...

i did that before but mine was parked at the right near the stairs going up .
But heard after that cannot as a lot of cars parked there and caused a jam etc ...

Icic... I did mine one day before my MACS expires. So i cleared immigration using my MACS and proceeded to the office that I mentioned...

Then you went up one floor and cross the bridge leading to CIQ?
Follow the way till reach a water fall feature where to the right is for people going to Woodlands and to the left is the way to the MACs office?

I missed the mobile counter at Jusco and managed to renew on my way back from Singapore.

That sounds about right. Card exchange was at the ground floor. Than had to walk back up and than go through a stair well and into some arrival area. Sorry, I can't really recall the exact directions because it was our first time there and I literally asked every custom/security officer we met for directions along the way. The last time we did our MACS was at second link, also had to ask for directions, but didn't have to get a security pass.
This time round we wanted to try the causeway just for the experience.

Easiest place Hing Fuat or if you don't mind going further, Izola at 2nd floor of the Giant@Skudai. I use both a lot, even for my rental units.

Forgot about Hing Fuat that you mentioned before and went to check it out. Saw the Getha Harmony series mattress selling at Rm2870 nett, over Rm300 cheaper than the discounted price at Homelife in Aeon Bukit Indah.

Not just that, some more can use credit card to pay balance upon delivery of furniture at home. Not like Homelife must go to the shop to pay in full 3 days in advance before delivery of furniture.

Must buy the rest of my furniture from Hing Fuat!

They also pointed out to me that their government may be corrupted, but they protect their citizens should any foreigners say anything bad about them. They can migrate within their country to a place where housing and cost of living are cheaper...........................

Just a side note, they are horrified to see so many people working at their golden age in the hawker centers. It is rare to see people like that back in China and the elderly normally choose to work at his/her age volunteeringly. For Singaporean, there is no choice regarding that matter for many of the middle/lower income group.

There was an article in the Chinese papers a few months ago interviewing some PRs why they didn't convert to SG citizenship. One of the interviewee is a PRC PR married to SG citizen, she cited her reason as losing the pension/medical benefit for elderly that she will be entitled if she were to return to China.

The other day heard on radio about China govt having headache to ensure enough pension for elderly with the fast ageing China population. Was thinking PAP is the best, no such headache since pension only for selected few among themselves, sure have enough to pay the pension.
