SINGAPORE: Singapore has awarded licences to six foreign law firms to practice in Singapore.

The licences have been awarded to two law firms from the United States and four from the United Kingdom.

The two US law firms are Latham & Watkins and White & Case, while the British law firms are Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith and Norton Rose.

These law firms will practise in all areas except for family law and litigation.

They will concentrate mostly on arbitration cases in the financial and maritime practice.

It is expected these law firms will double their revenues, profits and manpower resources from offshore cases in about five years. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
