Think about this:

Lo Hwei-Yen was singled out amongst so many hostages. Why?
Out of 195 dead and 295 injured, only 22 foreigners died. So, it was not a target of Westerners by Islamic fundamentalists. It was the on-going war between Pakistan and India over Kasmir.

Now, consider these facts:

1. Sinkiepoor President is an Indian.
2. Ms Lo's hubby is an Indian.
3. Pakistan is at war with India over Kashmir.
4. Sinkiepoor bragboy talk big about assisting India during siege.
5. Ms Lo was given the task to relay message to Indian gahment through MFA.
6. Ms Lo was singled out by the attackers. She was held hostage with the rest. She was not killed in the lobby nor the restaurant nor was she killed in her room when the attackers went door to door.
7. There are sources from hostages with her who could tell a totally different story of her last hours.
8. Ms Lo was shot on the abdomen and the head.
9. The attackers were preparing for negotiation but the Indian gahment were preparing to attack regardless of how many hostages will be killed as collateral damage.
10. Whether she was killed by Indian NSG commandos or the Pakistani attackers, no one can be certain.

We can safely assume that she was not in the wrong place at the wrong time, since she was singled out amongst all the hostages to relay the message to the Indian gahment. MFA failed her by not doing so. She was already a target by the Pakistani attackers planted inside the hotel before the attack.

Lo Hwei-Yen stood no chance at all of coming out alive from this attack!!

Now, what can the Sinkie gahment do now other than saying it is a "sacrifice" and all Sinkies share the grief?

Since it knows it can never do anything heroic or note-wrothy, then why brag about "assisting the Indian gahment" in the first place?

This attack is actually one of the series of attacks that India and Pakistan had with each other and the focus is the liberation of Kashmir. It is not a terrorist attack that many like to paint it to be. It is the continued war between Pakistan and India over Kashmir. This is not Al-Qaeda nor is it JI nor is it a case of Jihad!!

So, why did Sinkie gahment had to take sides on the outset when info was scant. A call to Pakistan would have secured the release of Ms Lo instead of bragging over national TV.

Here are the solid facts below of the number of foreigners killed as collateral damage. It was not a terrorist attack that is ismilar to the Bali attack or 9/11, where Jihad is proclaimed against the infidels Westerners.

Hence, I suggest that Sinkie politicians, through the various condolence messages or continued propaganda, to refrain from citing "Islamic TERRORISTS" at the drop of a hat. Understand the context and you will be respected for it. You could well have saved Ms Lo's life if you had not taken sides in the absence of vital info about the attack or the attackers.

Confirmed foreigner deaths

MUMBAI - AT least 22 non-Indians have been killed in the attacks in the western Indian city of Mumbai, which have left 195 people dead and 295 injured, according to officials.
A breakdown of known fatalities by country:
Israel: Five Israelis who were taken hostage in a Jewish cultural centre have been killed, a diplomat at the Israeli embassy in India said. None of the victims was formally identified, but the Chabad-Lubavitch community which runs the centre said Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg, who was born in Israel and his wife, Rivka, had perished as Indian commandos moved in to end the siege.

United States: The State Department on Friday said five US citizens had been killed in the attacks on Mumbai. Officials did not name the dead, but the Synchronicity Foundation, a Virginia-based meditation community said two of its members, father and daughter Alan and Naomi Scherr, had died.
It was not immediately clear if New York-based Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife were counted among the five.
France: Two French nationals have been killed, Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said in a statement, without naming them. The president of the fashion lingerie company Princess Tam Tam said the two were its founder, Loumia Hiridjee, and her husband Mourad Amarsy.

Australia: Two Australians are known to have died in the attacks - Mr Doug Markell, aged 71, and Mr Brett Taylor, 49.

Germany: A spokesman for the German foreign ministry said one national had been killed. He was not named, but a Munich-based media firm, CAMP TV, said the dead man was its co-owner, Mr Ralph Burkei. An Indian security official has said three Germans died in the attacks.

Singapore: Ms Lo Hwei Yen, 28, was killed after she was taken hostage in the Oberoi/Trident hotel, a diplomat said.

Britain: British-Cypriot businessman Andreas Liveras, a 73-year-old yachting tycoon, has been confirmed dead by the Foreign Office.

Japan: In Tokyo, Mitsui Marubeni Liquefied Gas announced that one of its Japanese employees, Mr Hisashi Tsuda, aged 38, had been killed.

Italy: An Italian, Mr Antonio de Lorenzo, died in the assault, the Italian foreign ministry said.

Canada: Two Canadians died in the attacks, one of whom was female, the country’s foreign minister, Lawrence Cannon said. The names of the two have not been released.

Thailand: A woman Thai worker died in the attacks on the Oberoi/Trident hotel, Thailand’s foreign ministry said on Saturday, adding that she had worked in the hotel’s spa. A spokesman said five Thais were rescued.

As first reported by WMR while the corporate press was uttering the “Al Qaeda” bogeyman as likely behind the terror attacks on Mumbai, the Press Trust of India (PTI) is now confirming WMR’s initial report that Pakistan- and Dubai-based criminal syndicate boss Dawood Ibrahim’s gangsters handed over the weapons and explosive material to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) terrorists to carry out the assault on targets in Mumbai.

According to PTI, one LET terrorist captured by India, Ajmal Qasab, said he and his fellow terrorists sailed from Karachi and entered Mumbai’s port area with the help of Ibrahim’s agents who run several customs facilities in Mumbai. However, there are some questions being raised about Qasab and his claims. The so-called security camera shot of Qasab, who is being billed by the media as the “lone surviving gunman,” at Chatrapathi Sivaji train terminal in Mumbai, appears fake.

The angle is too narrow for a train station which would have a wider angle and be shot from higher up than the photo being shopped by the Indian police. However, according to Asian intelligence sources, Qasab may have been trained by Hindu militants and was rushed to the scene of the attack for a photo opportunity hastily arranged by the Hindu right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) propaganda team.

One Asian intelligence source who has spent a great deal of time in Pakistan reports that he has “never seen a haircut like his [Qasab’s] in Pakistan or on either side of Line of Control in Kashmir.” He also pointed out that Qasab is a bit overweight for an average “mujad” who slim down in training by exercising and eating a sparse diet of lentils and flat bread.

An abandoned Indian fishing boat, the Kuber, discovered off the coast of Mumbai, was found to contain satellite phones and global positioning system (GPS) equipment pre-programmed with a return route to Karachi, Pakistan. The Ibrahim gangsters and LET terrorists had hijacked the Kuber and killed its crew.

It has also been revealed that the Trident-Oberoi Hotel had been chosen by the terrorists because a large number of Israeli businessmen were staying there while attending a diamond exhibition. WMR has learned from our Asian intelligence sources that a large number of Mossad officers used the Trident-Oberoii as a base of operations, along with the ultra-Orthodox Jewish Chabad House, which was also targeted by the terrorist-gangster alliance.

The Oberoi hostages were shot in the back of their heads, a typical gangland execution method preferred by Ibrahim and not the firing squad method used by LET. The outbreak of fires in rooms at the Oberoi also point to the possibility that the hotel was being used by British, American (possibly Defense Intelligence Agency), Australian, and Israeli non-official cover (NOC) agents as a base and documents were being destroyed before the hotel was fully secured by the Ibrahim-LET assailants. There was an initial report that a number of bodies of white males brought out of the Oberoi were Australians.

A report in Kashmir Times, since removed from its website, claimed that the terrorists that entered the Taj Mahal Palace hotel had identified two senior U.S. intelligence officers in the crowd. The fact that the two CIA agents were singled out lends more proof to WMR’s original report that Ibrahim was retaliating against his old CIA friends because he suspected them of working with India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Pakistan’s Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) agency to extradite him from his sanctuary in Quetta, Pakistan, to India. Ibrahim is a veteran of CIA “off-the-books” operations during the mujahedin war against the Soviets in Afghanistan and currently in CIA drug and weapons smuggling and money laundering activities in South Asia, particularly in facilitating the shipment of a bumper crop of opium from U.S.-occupied Afghanistan to enrich the coffers of CIA slush funds.

Ibrahim was also involved in supplying nuclear materials to Pakistan’s father of the nuclear bomb, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. Khan has made no secret that the CIA was well aware of his activities and Ibrahim may be in a position to know much more about the secret networks that supplied Pakistan with proscribed materials, including nuclear-related and missile items, networks that may involve CIA channels and Turkish and Israeli criminal intermediaries.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - The militant group blamed for the Mumbai attacks has roots in the disputed Kashmir region where Pakistan's military has faced off against India for decades.

There have long been suspicions that Pakistan's military and intelligence services helped create, arm and train Lashkar-e-Taiba as a proxy force against India's much larger military.

Though ties between the militant group and Pakistan's army have never been firmly established, the issue is coming under fresh scrutiny and could determine India's response to the terror attacks.

Pakistan has repeatedly denied any connection to the group.
Any evidence linking the Mumbai attackers to the Pakistani leadership would raise tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors after years of attempts to mend relations. In a worst-case scenario, it could push India's government to mobilize troops along the border or even bomb militant targets within Pakistan.

The only surviving gunman told police he is Pakistani and trained at a Lashkar camp in Pakistan, according to Indian security officials; Indian leaders have also blamed "elements within Pakistan" for the strikes.
The Islamabad government acknowledges the attackers may be Pakistani or may even have trained on its soil, but insists they did so without its knowledge. Government leaders have also repeatedly noted they too are fighting a bloody war against Islamic militants.

Individual sympathizers
The Pakistani government banned Lashkar in 2002 amid pressure from Washington following the Sept. 11 attacks. Since then most analysts say infiltration by militants into Indian-held Kashmir has decreased.
But a senior Pakistani government official acknowledged individuals among the lower-ranks of the intelligence agencies may sympathize with groups like Lashkar, which has been linked to al-Qaida and whose members are believed to be involved in attacks against the government and army close to the Afghan border.

"Maybe one or two individuals are allowing things to happen," but there is no officially sanctioned connection to the militants, said the official, who asked not to be identified because it would compromise his work.
The situation is further muddied because many people question whether Pakistan's civilian government, which was elected in February ending nine years of military rule, is in full control of the army and intelligence agencies.

Military tolerance?
Relations between the military government under President Gen. Pervez Musharraf and jihadi groups deteriorated following the July 2007 assault on the Red Mosque in Islamabad, which left scores of militants dead. The mosque was historically used as a jumping off point for militants en route to the fight in Kashmir.

Hundreds of Pakistani soldiers have died in a spike in suicide bombings since the mosque assault. A Pakistani army operation in the Bajur border region that began in September has also targeted militant hideouts, some of them belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to military officials in the area.

U.S. wants Pakistan to do more
The U.S. wants Pakistan to do more to go after terror cells rooted in Pakistan. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mike Mullen was pushing the same message in Pakistan on Wednesday, and also was to meet with officials in India during his trip.

Meanwhile, police found two bombs at Mumbai's main train station nearly a week after they were left there by gunmen behind the attacks_ a stunning new example of the botched security that has sparked outrage in India since the deadly three-day siege.

The discovery Wednesday came as Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said India is "determined to act decisively" following the attacks, saying the evidence was clear the gunmen came from Pakistan and their handlers are still there.

His words, the strongest yet from the government, came as thousands of Indians — many calling for war with Pakistan — held a vigil in Mumbai to mark one week since the start of the rampage.

New York President Asif Ali Zardari has rejected India's demand to hand over LeT chief Hafiz Mohd Sayeed and other fugitives in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks and doubted whether the arrested terrorist is a Pakistani national.


Two days after New Delhi's demarche (protest note) demanding the handing over of 20 fugitives, Zardari made known Pakistan's reluctance to part with them.

"If we had proof, we would try them in our courts. We would try them in our land and we would sentence them," he said appearing on "Larry King Live" programme on CNN last night.

India's list of 20 most wanted criminals given to Pakistan included underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar.

India is awaiting Pakistan's response before deciding on the options it could exercise. New Delhi's outrage was voiced by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee who said the country has every right to protect its territorial integrity and will take "appropriate action" as it feels necessary to deal with the terror strikes emanating from Pakistan.

The minister also did not rule out military strikes against terror camps in Pakistan.

Zardari said that he also doubted India's claim that the sole surviving gunman, who was captured by Indian security forces, was a Pakistani national.

"We have not been given any tangible proof to say that he is definitely a Pakistani. I very much doubt that he's a Pakistani," he said.
Zardari denied Pakistan's involvement in the attacks, saying the terror strikes were executed by the "Stateless actors" who wanted to hold the "entire world hostage."

"These (terrorists) are stateless actors who have been operating throughout the region. They include gunmen and the planners and are holding the entire world hostage," he said.

"State of Pakistan is not responsible for the attacks in Mumbai... even the White House and the US intelligence agency CIA have said so," he said.
The President ruled out any possibility of Pakistan and India going to war, saying "democracies do not go to war".

The three wars, India and Pakistan have fought, took place
during dictatorships in Pakistan, he said.

Zardari said this is time to come together, do a joint investigation and look at the problem in the larger context.

"The threat is in the region and just not to Bombay or to India. The threat (also is) to the State of Pakistan. There's a threat to Afghanistan, It's a threat throughout region. So that would be counterproductive," he added.
"I'm a victim. The state of Pakistan is a victim. We are the victims of this war, and I am sorry for the Indians, and I feel sorry for them. I've seen this pain. I feel this pain every time I see my children. I can see it in their eyes.

This pain lives with me because of my wife and what we are going through in Pakistan," he said.

Asked whether Lashkar-e-Taiba was involved in the attacks, he replied that it is a banned organisation around the world. "If indeed they are involved, we would not know."

These are the people who operate outside the system like al-Qaeda but Pakistan has offered full cooperation to India in investigating the incident and "We intend to do so."

"We cannot rule anything out at the moment," he said when asked whether al-Qaeda might be involved. But it is too premature to reach any conclusion.

Take action against Hafiz, Masood: India tells Pak
India has asked Pakistan to take strict action against Lashker-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon and terror leader Maulana Masood Azhar, who are named in a list of 20 wanted terrorists handed over to Islamabad by New Delhi.
The list of fugitives was discussed at a meeting of political leaders chaired in New Delhi on Tuesday last night by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to evolve national consensus on a course of action to deal with tensions with India in the wake of the terror attacks in Mumbai.

Former federal minister and Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told reporters after the meeting that the names of Dawood Ibrahim, Masood Azhar and Tiger Memon figured in the list. However, he did not say what course of action the meeting had suggested on India's demand to hand over the 20 wanted men.

Indian security officials have linked the Lashker-e-Taiba to the Mumbai attacks. Hours before the attacks, India has suggested during the talks between the home secretaries of the two countries in Islamabad that they should priorities action against persons for whom the Interpol had issued Red Corner Notices.

A Red Corner notice has been issued for Dawood Ibrahim, the alleged mastermind of the 1993 bombings in Mumbai that killed nearly 260 people.
Hafiz Saeed, an engineer-turned-militant ideologue, formed the Jamat-ud-Dawah after Pakistan banned the Lashker-e-Taiba. The Jamat has its headquarters at Muridke near Lahore and has stepped up its activities since Pervez Musharraf stepped down as President.

Masood Azhar, a Pakistani national, formed the Jaish-e-Mohammed after he was freed by India in exchange for passengers of an Indian Airlines flight hijacked from Kathmandu to Kandahar in 1999. Recent reports have suggested that the Jaish has stepped up its activities in Bahawalpur, where its headquarters are located.

Prime Minister Gilani has said that his government will consider taking action against Hafiz Saeed if evidence is provided against him. "Let the proof come and we'll look into it," he told a TV channel.
Asked if it would be a "goodwill gesture" if the Pakistan government arrested Hafiz Saeed, he replied: "We have assured full cooperation. Therefore the cabinet has decided for cooperation with India and a probe."

Our intelligence failed us. MFA failed Ms Lo. Someone was too eager to come to conclusion that it was a Bali-like Jihad attack on Westerners, BUT it was not. So, someone took sides too early.

Frankly, Kashmir is none of our business. We have Pakistanis and Indians FTs in Sinkiepoor working and living side by side in Tekka and Serangoon Gardens. So, we are foolish to take sides in the absence of vital info initially. Agree?

Yes, you could be spot-on. It does not make sense from the intelligence angle to obliterate evidence. The siege and counter-attack took four days to end. So, there was plenty of time for deliberate planning and to formulate a "blame" plan.

Let's remember this. It is not the first time India or specifically Mumbai had been attacked. All previous attacks point to Pakistan and it is always over the Kashmir issue. Hence, for our own intelligence at MFA not to recognise this and not to brief someone not to brag until a strategy to secure Ms Lo's release is in place....BUT alas! Ms Lo obviously never had a chance with such incompetent intelligence or total lack of it. If Mas Kasturi Selamat could escape so easily, she should have placed her hope in herself instead. :(
