I'm referring to the more serious cases. Such as if you have a heart problem or getting old, and trying to lose liquid weight. Doctors will usually prescribe lasix(furosemide) acid or spironolactone. If you are taking lasix the doctor will also prescribe potassium to prevent kidney damage. That's why I prefer to take spironolactone because I don't have to take potassium. Whats interesting is lasix is also used on horses.

Long term use of any drug is unhealthy. Some people report impotent, lose of energy, dizziness, etc When you are taking other drugs the dangers of interactions between the other drugs increases:eek:

With this in mind I have been looking at long term natural remedies. I approached the problem in 2 ways, finding a natural replacement for my lasix(water retention) & avoiding the problem. For a diuretics there are natural solutions. The 2 products I have tried are these two:

http://www.iherb.com/Solgar-Natural-Herbal-Diuretic-100-Veggie-Caps/15431

They may not be as effective as drugs but they do work & are gentler to ones system. I 1st started with the Now product & then continued with the Solgar product. They are both fine products & also very affordable at less than SIN$20 per month.

The second part of my solution was to taken something to improve my leaky vessels & I took a product with horse chestnut & grapeseed:

I was experiencing a serious boat of leg swelling. When I sat for 2+ hours my leg would start to swell:eek: Walking for an hour would get my legs back to normal size until I sat down again:( Even when I slept, I would wake up with swollen legs. The repeated swelling of my legs caused my legs to ache & rashes caused by my having to use squeeze into my now tight shoes. After using the horse chestnut & grapeseed supplement for a month, my problem has improved alot:) I can now sit for hours without problems.

For those out there who are be suffering from the same problem may want to give these supplements a try.

Take pineapples. Had some and have to wake up 3 times to pee. My dog also have some and SPH papers it peed on totally soaked.

thanks bro johnny.....you do make very helpful posts on health issues. Wonder why we dont have a sticky on health. Would be good for easy reference.

One of my favorite fruits is pineapple but cannot take too much because it stings the tongue & I don't like to use salt which avoids the sting.

Only have to take those water pills twice a day i.e. 2 pills a day & for me it was enough.

When I started taking horse chestnuts I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm happy with the results. :)

If you talk with your older relations, a common problem is swelling of the feet. Doctors cannot offer a solution except to prescribe diuretics. It's really amazing what nature can provide.

I recently started taking magnesium citrate & that was the ingredient that I didn't know I was lacking  Before I started taking it I would often have an off day when I lacked energy. It would feel like I had a stomach ache when I tried to walk. Could never tell why :( Now I religiously take 320mg of magnesium per day & my quality of life is so much better:)

It also has anti-constipation properties:D One needs magnesium & not just for its laxative properties;)

Don't listen to those doubting Thomases who poo poo against supplements. I started seriously taking supplements 5 years ago after my heart problems. Without supplements my quality of life would not be what it is today.

actually it is i who have not believed in these supplements. My mum is 85 and has been taking supplements for years . She still goes out everyday

by bus...and her only problem is her swallowing muscles not so good. Otherwise she very healthy, mobile and strong. Wife takes supplements too and

in her mid 50s now....also very healthy.

Guess i'm going to be a believer in supplements soon...seeing as how i have a bit of BP and cholesterol issues

Unfortunately many wait for a health crisis before taking supplementation seriously :o

They give more thought to their car, home, holiday,.... than their own health ;)

ya man...balls shrink already....now starting already to take some.
