btw, I lost a Taiwanese friend last week to heart bypass. I only got to know the news today. I couldn't get hold of him via phone for two months. Last Thursday when I was driving around his vicinity, I decided to detour and drive to his place. I couldn't quite remember the exact location because when I was at his place the last time I was still very new to Taiwan. I couldn't find his house. Then this afternoon his ex-manager called me to say he passed away last Thursday. Thursday ? Sometimes life is a matter of coincidence.

Pii KYP, I'm sorry to hear this. Sound like a dear friend to you. I must be honest sometimes friends are closer than relatives. Take it easy pii.

Thanks Joetys and Chonburifc. He wasn't really a pillar of support, but he did play a very important role in my decision to remain in Taiwan. Feeling sad, no doubt.

I don't used too much but without it, taste very plain. The only time I don't use this is when I am cooking tonic soup (Black Chicken) or Shi Quan (Sip Zhuan). One of the things I da bao from SG is ginseng root cos' cannot afford the real thing. When I free, I will cook Ginseng (root) chicken.

Hehe no MSG lah, radish soup is full of flavour, where got bland? I don't even add salt leh..

Ginseng root chicken sounds interesting..

First of all your soup looks great, made me think of home.

Prices of food varies depending of location. This restaurant where I had lunch I felt is overpriced charging $40 per kg. This little crab is like only 300g I think. If you see my yesterday's post on lunch the whole meal was only like $55 we plan to go there again tomorrow on our way back to Bangkok.

Thanks the soup is quite tasty too haha... oh $40 per kg seems overcharged indeed, today I saw Sunday times advert some new SG eatery charging $50 per kg..

OK, here's dinner for tonight. Bought everything at BigC. Too lazy to go anywhere and it's too crowded everywhere. bought less than 10 items and joined the express queue. They have queues for 10 items or less. Bought BBQ Chicken (half), Fried Bee Hoon and Fried Rice and Khao Niow. Also got Chilli sauce for the BBQ chicken and loaf of wholemeal for tomorrow's breakfast.

And Guess the price of these two?

In the most happening blues bar in Bangkok, Saxaphone, in Anusauwaree (Victory Monument). Always love this place. Amazing Thais can do Blues so damn well.

I'm really surprised of what you said. Hmmmm I wonder can get discount or not. Joking la, this is a nice join and we really like it here as we both love blues and jazz a lot. Some of the bands here are no different to the bands in Chicago.

Hehehe. Actually I prefer to cook if possible but it is very expensive to cook for one person. I cook less recently cos' I am not good at using electrical stove (the apartment ban LPG gas stoves). Yes, I like stir fried stuff.

I also have a slow cook pot which I used to make soup and dessert, usually for my staff and friends.

KYP, this is life lah. A little curious on the heart bypass procedure of your friend. Was it a success or complications arised after the procedure. Please do not respond if you feel uncomfortable. Reason I asking is because it seems this procedure is getting more common nowadays as I heard it many times. My ex-boss did it before.

ginfreely, pai seh, pai seh. It's not Ginseng Root, should be Ginseng Root Beard. There are a lot of recipes on the internet but I used all the ingredients from the TCM shops. Normally, I will ask the shop to prepared 5-6 packets of ingredients and da bao back to LOS. I got all my stuff including Ginseng beard from a shop call Pin Min Medical Hall in Chinatown. Here's the pic of Ginseng beard and the address/tel. no.
