22 May 2012 Hougang By-election Rally speech by Sylvia Lim
So Hougang voters, I think you know which party has your welfare at heart. Is it the PAP, who for the last 20 years was quite happy to let Hougang residents suffer? Which party really cares for Hougang? You know the answer.

This is Sylvia's well worn war cry - the government has "punished" you. The government has "made you suffer". Take a look at her blog, it's riddled with the same rhetoric over and over again. Give the people an enemy and watch them fight for you. My friends, let us reminded ourselves that the Worker's Party runs Hougang. The Worker's Party runs the town-councils. If the voice of the opposition is so mighty, why has nothing been done about it? A friend of mine had a walk around Hougang Ave 5 - he's a smoker and he realized that there was not a bin to be found with cigarette disposal facilities, yet the floor is littered with cigarette butts. Is this part of a grander scheme of things to make it LOOK LIKE the government is destroying your lives?

22 May 2012 Hougang By-election Rally speech by Glenda Han
Right now, singles are only allowed to purchase flats from the resale market, subjecting them to the same criteria for PR households in Singapore. Not only are singles relying on their sole income, they also have to cope with surging prices of flats in the resale market. Besides that, they also usually have the responsibility of taking care of their aged parents. This outdated rule needs to be reviewed and revised. Should Singaporean singles be penalized just because they have not found a marriage partner?

Glenda conveniently left out the fact that there have been so much assistance for singles to buy houses. Now if she intends to implement her idea, I'm curious how she will address the multitude of singles competing with married couples for BTOs then - would that be fair for married couples? Would that be a policy that encourages the setup of more families? And given the social norm now to marry late, co-habit or not at all... wouldn't that put undue stress on the BTO apartments?

We all know of the local joke: When a man asks a woman to apply for a flat together, we know it's just a terrible way of proposing. The fact that this joke is in existence shows that this scheme encourages the setting up of families.

22 May 2012 Hougang By-election Rally speech by Pritam Singh
And I would like the DPM Teo to look into his heart of hearts and ask himself why the PAP punished the residents of Hougang, young and old, his fellow Singaporeans, NSmen of Hougang and tax-paying residents of Hougang for 21 years by putting them at the back of the queue for programs like lift upgrading? What crime did the residents of Hougang commit? I am sure DPM Teo knows that in the PAP’s eyes, the crime they committed was that they exercised their democratic right to vote – and the PAP punished everyone in Hougang for it, including their own PAP supporters

This is the same rhetoric that Sylvia has posted, so I'd like to trouble the reader to go back to paragraph 1 for clarifications.

Singapore should reduce its over-reliance on foreign workers through increased automation and productivity improvements of our local workforce.”

Well, Mr. Chen also fails to highlight that automation also contributes to manpower redundancy. And by the way, the entire statement screams "duh". Of course we have to improve productivity and reduce reliance on low cost workers. The question is: how do you intend to do so Mr. Chen?

SG’s Explanation on the sidetracking issue of NCMP – 22 May 2012 Hougang By-election Rally
But this is a weak attempt at discrediting the Workers’ Party. In fact, I would invite all of you to take a look at the minutes. It shows that the Workers’ Party functions in a fair and transparent manner, where decisions are made collectively. In addition, it also dispels rumours that the CEC is made up of all yes-man and women, or even fully controlled by Low Thia Khiang!

No indeed Mr. Low, there is nothing wrong with the minutes. What is wrong and questionable is why did the candidate say one thing a day before and the next day say something else? And each time he opens his mouth, it just opens up more questions.

So yes we face problems with running Singapore - foreigners, inflation, healthcare etc. But the way to fix this is to have better enforcement, better policies and to work closely with Government to have all this sorted out with good, constructive ideas - not by having more "X"s on the hammer.

Wow, one single example of not enough dustbins for cigarette butts by the Hougang Town Council and the problem is with the Town Council and nothing to do with the denial of funds by the government. I think you can do better than that.

Wow, Kinana is working harder than an ant on steroids during this time. Probably paid 50 cents per post by his masters. Gotta post 10 more to make $5.00 for his chicken rice lunch and a sugar cane drink.

Littering problems are every where in Spore.. Its not only in Hougang..

The writer must be a tortoise not to have noticed that littering problems are also quite rampant even in the PAP held wards.. Using the excuse of a lack of rubbish bins in Hougang is just a lame tactic of the PAP supporters to slime the Opposition.. Even Orchard Rd has its fair share of littering problems..

I worry for Spore, if there'll be more dumbfucks like this writer in the future..

The writer must be extremely daft if he thinks that the PAP will want to hear the views of peasants like him..

He obviously wants a Parliament free of any Opposition MPs.. It's a nightmare for him seeing 8 WP members stepping into Parliament last May..

Better enforcement? Better policies?

Did the PAP do enough enforcement to tighten the invasion of these Foreign Scums into our Island?

Better policies like refusing to raise the salary of the low wage workers in Spore?

I am not against opposition, I want good opposition. WP is pathetic to say the least. why support this kind of opposition party? We should punish WP and send them a strong message instead to shape up or ship out!

i disagree that you are making assumptions that hdb flats could promote marriages.

a holy matrimony should be based upon the willinginess for both partners to sacrifice their individual lifestyles and come together as one.

using materialism will not help to solidify the marriages. as a matter of fact people want to get married just because of one hdb flat is unsutainable if not simplistic.

the repercussions will be higher divorce rates.

which will add to more social problems even when there are no kids invovled

Honey,
You must have forgotten what I have told you before
Remember you complained my dick was lamed the last time?
After I closed the curtains in the car what happened?
You were groping and sucking my dick like an ice-cream on plastic cone
And the morality was.?... never judge a book by its cover

If that is not enough, here's another incident
I gave you 13 shots after your birthday celebration at Denise's and you complained 7 were below betterest and 1 was above average
The reason for that was explicitly explained to you but I could see from your eyes, your reluctance and reservations
You have adamantly refused to remove the sands in your pussy in order to belittle my performance and making me look bad in front of Denise & friends
Although the abrasiveness within your 4 walls had caused some pains and blisters, I am still contributing to your screams, scratches and bites
I am not against your pussy Honey, but the the costs of tightening it and shaping it up is bursting my wallet to say the least
Let this be strong message to you, stop your nonsense in blocking my penetration and my lovely strokes
Remove those sands or else I'll cum in your deep throat

Good speech by Glenda :p

Single Singaporean can purchase a HDB unit, then a married couple should able to purchase 2 HDB units. Disallow PR to purchase HDB, let them rent from Singaporean that is allow to purchase the 2nd HDB units.

Single Singaporeans and married couple should be allow purchase 1 new HDB units equally and the difference is married couple can get more first timer CPF grant than singles. I think this should be fair.

As for PR, they are allow to purchase HDB resales flats only and an additional levy can be imposed on them.

Hopefully garment can use this additional levy received to help needy Singaporeans so as say PR are foreigners coming into Sinkieland to earn a good living thus it also fair that they contribute back to the society they live & work in.

Ahh, the no opposition until we get the perfect opposition argument - similar to the 'don't publish anything until you can publish the perfect book' argument.

Coupled with the 'JBJ was much better' argument, this will ensure no opposition ever gets into parliament, and the PAPzis get to turn Singapore into anything they want, such as a playground for the wealthy aliens built on the bodies of Singaporeans.

I can never understand this argument either.
JBJ did his best when he was around.
He was probably too combative, not the best in economics and finance, too aloof, organization skills left a lot
to be desired, but he took on the pap with guts and gumption.
Similarly, LTK, Sylvia and company are doing the best they can trying to maximise their strengths and abilities.
It amuses me when people claim that Sylvia is a mole or WP are too soft and compliant, not combative enough, etc.
What do they expect the WP MPs to do? Do a maori dance in front of the front bench before every parliament sitting?
