Just so you know, the relevant govt departments have increased their monitoring of this forum following the tragic collision of a red Ferrari and a taxi.

They are very concerned about a spike in the number of posts that are anti-foreigner, especially anti-PRC in content. There is always a possibility that they approach the forum administrator to track you down.

If you have made such posts in the past and/or have the proclivity to make them, then you are advised to use obfuscation technologies to cover your tracks. They are not 100% effective; however it is better than not using them at all.

Bros, you must know that no amount of anti-foreigner posts will hamper our govt's efforts in converting between 40,000 to 50,000 foreigners to new citizens annually.

This anti foreigner thing is stupid anyway.
You don't like immigrants, go make more babies.

well said, voting the oppositions into the Parliament and filling them to more than one third of the total number of seats can halt this immigrant influx immediately :D:D:D

You are wrong. They will not dare stop immigration because it will cause massive inflation and unemployment among locals.

Ho Say Liao! Kinana, skponggol and RonRon super score points liao.:D

Lim beh si liao, no need see my postings, see my nick enough liao.:D

Hey you people! Yes, you people stalking the postings of SBF! Don't look elsewhere, yes, you people, threadstarter mentioned monitoring this forum. I want to ask you people 1 question.

me would love to be wrong in my predictions: 1/3 of the Parliament filled with oppositions by the next GE if the current rate of immigrant influx is to continue.
the high population density is driving the electorate nuts, the electorate's primary concern wouldn't be inflation by then but kicking the PAP in their nuts :D:D:D

I'm afraid you are mistaken. Restricting immigration would reduce inflation since money supply and in circulation would decrease. Push the envelope further by evicting them and it would be deflationary. Everything will be cheaper while wages are sticky up.

Peasants would enjoy greater purchasing power and higher standard of living just by this simple move. Sure, businesses would have lower profits, but low business profitability would pressure landlords to reduce rentals or government to increase supply from the public sector (case in point: hawker centres to moderate the irrational exuberance of private food court operators).

Cause unemployment you say? In a workforce that has 4 foreigners for every 6 locals, when you evict 2 out of 4 foreigners in an industry operating at 70% capacity, won't there be massive productivity gains? If you have the right regulations protecting the local workforce, the 6 locals would be untouched and even encourage businesses to hire the structurally unemployed.

This is the how you can get productivity gains without raising wages and unemployment.

Alas the free market charlatans have their say in the PAP, because they naively believe they cannot be blamed if they do nothing! Why pay politicians and the administration top dollars to do nothing?

How would restricting immigration reduce money supply?
Why not just print less money then and we would then have less money supply and cause deflation according to your logic?

Peasants would be unemployed while shortage of labour and supply will cause a double squeeze on the on their purchasing power.

It causes unemployment because w/i the foreigners who do the work that locals won't do at higher wages, companies will be forced to close and the 6 locals will have no jobs.

The govt does a great job in running the country. Thats why we have a boom with low unemmployment now.

Tell them to jolly well keep on watching.... I don't give a flying fuck.

Singapore's current predicament is not unlike a gym fanatic who, in a hurry to get all buffed up, used steroids for maximum muscle gains.

Artificially boosting the country's GDP through throwing open the floodgates and squeezing as many people as possible into ever shrinking flats, ever congested roads, and increasingly crowded trains.

You get a readily available pool of low wage workers (cheaper better faster), more consumer spending in the domestic economy, more rents collected etc. Nice multiplier effect.

Unfortunately, just like steroid usage, there will be serious side effects. You are witnessing them now: social tensions. This is a ticking time bomb.

The chickens have finally come home to roost. Much as I am dismayed and annoyed by the state of how things are, I can't help but feel schadenfreude over the PAP's incompetence/greed blowing up on its face.

No problem. These immigrants are work permit holders that will leave Singapore once there are no jobs. I don't see the parallel of steroid use at all sir. A better analogy would be protein drinks that give us great nutrition as we grow.
