BMW has a factory in Shenyang for the PRC market, possibly north Asia too. Luckily we get ours imported from south Africa and Germany. If COEs hit $150k, we might find the bread and butter models of BMW imported from China too.... Or indonesia....

I have driven a few times (when i go to PRC on biz trips) the Audis and VWs that were made in PRC. Build quality is good, identical to the German product. Of course I don't know about their long term road worthiness but for what they are worth, they aren't as bad as people think. Honestly.
