A Political Hot Potato

A political hot potato which may accelerate the demise of the PAP is the huge influx of PRCs. The influx has caused many social problems which the pap is trying desperately to mitigate.

On one end are the PRCs. They come from poor villages, unused to sophisticated city life, bring in their bad habits and idiosyncracies and 3rd world mentality. I was told by a friend that she was shocked when a pretty PRC admin lady just stripped off her underwear and sat on the throne to ease herself without closing the toilet cubicle door because many China toilets have no door. She was unfazed to be bottomless, spread on the toilet seat. Would any SG gal not be appalled? Such is the great divide between SG Chinese and PRCs. Singaporeans are also perturbed by the littering, jumping of queues and talking loudly by these PRCs.

On the other end are SG Chinese. These Singaporeans are used to conversing in English and are not comfortable to speak to the new PRC migrants who can only speak in their native heavily accented mandarin. The PRCs looked pissed by these Chinese Singaporeans who prefer to use English in SG to the extent that the PRCs despise the local Chinese. This can be a serious problem because the locals will not take it lightly as the PRCs are in SG and not China and it is incumbent for themj to assimilate rather than they expect Singaporeans to accommodate them.

These have caused some friction among the local Chinese and PRC migrants. The PAP has its work cut out for its bad policy of liberally letting in so many foreigners, thinking that it is a panacea to SG's problems. Instead this will bring more problems to SG

Actually the opposite is true, we really appreciate our govt for allowing these immigrants into our country. They benefit us both in the long and short term.
They lower cost of living here and make up for the low birth rates among singkies and keep our economy going.

The pap agrees with you. But time will tell whether it is a boon or a bane.

The pap also thought that the "Stop-at-Two" was the right policy. Look what happened!

The pap doesnt have monopoly of wisdom. In fact it made many mistakes. Could this be one more mistake?

oni prcs meh? ... other nationalities got no huge influx meh? ...

got..but other nationalities are not antagonistic towards Singaporean Chinese. It's the number of PRCS and intensity of conflict that makes the influx of PRCs a hot potato

The stop at two policy was good back then and it ended in the late 70s when we didn't have so much investments. That was so long ago so there is no excuse to blame the govt.

The real problem is low birth rates among people in developed countries. We are no different from western countries, Japan, Korea, Taiwan etc.

Hahaha..that's where u r wrong. Procreation policy is not for five or ten years. the detrimental effects take 1 generation to show. It is showing now.

That's where wisdom comes in...can see short term results but cant anticpate long term implications is folly.

Another pap folly is casinos. They may reap in $2B revenue now..but the long term effect is disastrous. Would you also say dont blame the pap?

Just watch for the long term effects of the liberal influx of cheap foreigners to SG. many can see the long term implications. Can you?

The stop at two policy was great because we didn't have the jobs back then.
Other developed countries don't have any stop at two policies and they too have low birth rates just like us.
So the problem is not the PAP policies in the 70s but attitudes of developed societies that is the problem.

u dont think the "stop-at-two" policy and the killing of so many unborn babies contributed to our population problem now?

A lot of people take objection on "good" policies that are changed overnight to equally "good" policies which act exactly in the opposite direction. Imagine driving a car at full steam in one direction, then stop and make a 180 degree reversal at equal high speed in the opposite direction. Only in Hawaii 5 'O' and the Italian Job do you see such driving. I must congratulate the drivers for their driving skill but their navigation skill is highly suspect.

These imports will be grateful and vote PAP for sure.
PAP's share of votes will surely increase.

I suggest you start targeting your anti govt and anti immigrant message to these immigranst to win their vote sfor 2016.
