But the big question now is: Are Singaporeans ready to accept transwomen strutting in bikinis – or entertain the possibility that one might go on to represent Singapore in global beauty pageants?

Transgender and former catwalk model Anna Dhillon, who stands at 1.8-metre tall, said, “Singapore is ready for such a change. We have many beautiful transgenders out there who are able to compete now.”

But the 37-year-old makeup artist, who kept the painful secret of being a transwoman for 14 years, said it would take a period of transition for transgenders to come out and compete.

Provided they can use the same changing room.

For those beauty contest, isnt being 'natural' a requirement? like cannot have plastic surgery etc?? (I just guessing hor) So if natural women cant go for plastic surgery etc if they want to contest..than how can transgender contest as they have been 'modified'?

The next Miss Singapore Universe could be born a man

SINGAPORE - Next year's Miss Universe Singapore could be won by a transgender contestant, reported The Straits Times, after the organiser revealed they are considering accepting contestants who have had a sex change.

The news comes after a Canadian transgender woman, Ms Jenna Talackova (pictured above), 23, was disqualified from the competition due to her status.

But was eventually allowed to return, after hinting that she would file a discrimination lawsuit against the organisers.

A spokesman for Derrol Stepnenny Promotions, which runs the Miss Universe pageant in Singapore, said it is waiting for instructions from the parent organisation, co-owned by United States real estate mogul Donald Trump and television network NBC.

The Straits Times reported that news of the move drew mixed reactions from Singaporeans.
Some felt that transgender contestants may have an unfair advantage as they would have gone under the knife.

Others lauded the move, saying the change would make the competition more relevant.

It is still unclear if whether transgender contestants would have to declare their status when entering the pageant.

Having seen the poor "female" candidates that our pageants have produced e.g. Ris. This may improve Spore's chances of winning in future contests:p

The really scary thing about this I was told by good looking women is that the 'converted' ones can be even better looking than them,,and for women, they seldom admit that other women are prettier than them,,,

but I just think that only natural women with no plastic surgery can participate..the transgendered ones can have their own transgendered pagents
