The joint naval exercises that China and Russia launched on Sunday morning highlight the warming ties between the militaries and
growing cooperation under the China-Russia strategic partnership.

The exercises near Qingdao, Shandong province, will last six days and focus on joint maritime air defense, anti-submarine tactics,
maritime search and rescue as well the recovery of hijacked vessels, according to China's Defense Ministry.

The number of ships involved was unprecedented, Yin Zhuo, a navy expert, told Chinese media. A total of 16 vessels and two
submarines from the Chinese navy were to participate in the drill, including five missile destroyers, five missile frigates, four missile
boats, a support vessel and hospital ship, 13 aircraft and five shipboard helicopters.

The Washington Times said the exercises are an aggressive gesture by the two navies to counter the naval bravado and resolve
expressed by the nations of the Pacific Rim and the United States
recently.

very interesting, I was watching CCTV news and they made a real big effort to trumpet this exercise, even detailing the types of ships that is participating.

what's more significant, they asked some military experts to analyse this exercise & compare with regional naval exercise - US/ Korea, US/ Japan - and it was obviously trying to bash US.

they claim unlike the other US partnered exercise, China / Russia naval exercise have no "assumed enemy" as motive - its plainly anti-sub, anti-piracy, anti-terrorism....

what's most significant is that they asserted that being countries bordering the region - China / Russia - they have all right to conduct exercise / have interest in maintaining the free use of these waters. US on the other hand is so far - and they don't understand why they would sail so far to come here (Korea / Japan region) to have exercise. But they forgot, Russia also fucking far away ...but they claim Russia is far but not so far, so can considered regional player.

100% propaganda play.

I only see someone trying to give a BBBJ on board the ship :D

Back to the topic. Nobody gives a damn shit as to whether Singapore should take not or not. Our Armed Forces are only suitable for defences until a superpower decides to step in to help. When we take part in war games, God know how many foreign counterparts are laughing at our paper commanders.

Symptoms of global power re-balancing. Singapore should also take part in the exercise.

that's a good one, I didn't notice that......LOL....he probably answered wrongly. Its the 2nd Admiral's turn now and the rest are waiting for their turn....
