Allied educator charged for asking 13 year old girl to touch his ‘balls’

An allied educator has been charged in court on Wednesday for allegedly asking a student to perform an indecent act.

The educator, who was 48 years of age, allegedly asked a 13 year old female student to touch his ‘balls’ in December 2010.

An allied educator works with primary and secondary school teachers to “enhance” the teaching and learning of students in academic and non-academic areas.

It is not revealed what topic the educator teach to “enhance” the learning of the female student.

The latest scandal involving an educator come barely two weeks after a 38 year old teacher was sentenced to 10 years in jail for having oral sex with his students.

In response to media queries, Education Minister Heng Swee Kiat said it is important not to let “one or two incidents” tarnish the image of the teaching profession, because there are many good teachers around.

He added that there would be a couple of black sheep from time to time in spite of efforts to maintain professional standards.
