We knew it's a matter of time one of the Papayas would make such a warped remark to diminish their responsibility. Wooden said that he would worry if there's no retrenchment in the last recession. Yaboob has the honour this time. Still dun want to revolt?

It will make people, in a bid to save money, use less, waste less and throw away less.
Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Yaacob Ibrahim hopes the current economic downturn will make such behaviour change a permanent one. In speaking to reporters on Sunday morning after a charity run, Dr Yaacob also said some belt-tightening in his ministry is likely next year.
While programmes such as public awareness programmes might have to be reviewed, he gave the assurance that programmes that impacted public health would be spared the axe. Operations to weed out the mosquito-borne diseases dengue and chikungunya would still have high priority, he said.
Dengue is endemic to Singapore and chikungunya has emerged as a new disease here in recent years. <!-- end of for each --><!-- vbbintegration : start --><!-- vbbintegration : end --><!-- dennis change request 20070424 : start --><!---Google ad - Start : Sun, 19 Oct 2008 17:47:03:405---><!-- AdSpace STI Google ad tag --><SCRIPT language=JavaScript1.1 src="http://ads.asia1.com.sg/js.ng/site=tsti&pagepos=20&size=10X10"> </SCRIPT>

I thought a recession means that its could be worse for the environment because people might start cutting the part of the budget that is for environmental purposes.

In the end, recession or not, the government has to invest in the new green technology and to reduce Singapore's share of the carbon output. That cannot be any excuse not to do so.

Look at the sick manner he is laughing off the whole matter, its like telling the general population.."You loser gonna go thru losing jobs and pay cuts while I still get to enjoy my million dollar salary even if I screw up"...

It will make people, in a bid to save money, use less, waste less and throw away less.

Then someone should tell them to stop wasting the peoples money on money losing ventures..

During good times, salaries have been depressed and during bad times, there will be very little fat left for the retrenched to cushion themselves.

So that this lazy swine can work less and earn more. What does govt sector know about recession, they don't get retrenchment, they don't get pay cut, they still enjoy lots of welfare out of taxpayers moniies. They will never know about career crisis or job crisis. They only afraid that their master will get kick out thus they formed 66.6% of the erection vote. Prior to that, they have no worry whether recession or no recession since their iron pay is hard to break and all they need to do is sit in front of their PC masturbating and thinking how to screw peasants with their next rediculous policies. This is what I know about silver serpent life.

of cos la, to them recession is a good thing. bcos, no matter how bad the recession gets, their iron ricebowl remain unscratched. may even get a refill on the rice at the end of the yr.

contractors & bidders for gahmen project will slash price, so they will spend less, and justify good cost savings, so will get even more bonus when the appraisal comes.

Recession is ultimately a good thing for the country as it is a readjustment of the economic system. It, however, is not painless.

The recession has to come based on the economic cycles. Its just how well prepared the country is to face the challenges that comes along with it. At the current moment, the recession has not profoundly affected many Singaporeans. However this cannot be attributed to the good work made by the govt.
