Where did your hearsay came from Wendy?..i have been residing in the East all these whiles', and this is the 1st time
i am told about it; you maybe right in a way though, cos nowadays there are more & more pet owners letting their
pets pooing all over our Estate..and hence the reason ?..:wink:

i heard this from my dad over 20 years ago. he was quite a good gardener, and i take after him...no bragging..... :smile:
apparently something to do with more sand in the soil... since we were not in the East

he did consider digging a hole and trucking in truck loads of sand to plant and then nuture a mango tree, but decided against it

Talking about more sands' in this area, i do concur with him; he is quite right though.Me not really a green finger, but i do notice that soils in the 'original' East areas do contain more % of sand.Whether does that equate to better
growth of trees etcc, frankly i do not know..
