By way of email dated 7 Feb 2013, NEA informed the Town Council that “the Hawkers’ Association will make the necessary arrangements with their contractors on the scaffolding erection / dismantling during the spring cleaning period from 4-8 March 2013.” We leave it to the public to judge whether any reasonable person would take the sentence to refer merely to the provision of canvas rather than the erection / dismantling of scaffolding itself, as NEA now claims. The TC took NEA’s email in good faith and left the arrangement of the scaffolding in the hands of NEA and the hawkers’ association.

Inside parliament, Hammerrhoid MPs have always been taking the words of the PAP regime in ‘good faith’ without putting up any vigorous supervision nor any noteworthy challenge on their misrule and thus safeguarding the interest of all Singaporean.

Likewise, outside parliament, Hammerrhoid MPs are also sleeping and idling in their Town Council. Any reasonable person, let alone any responsible First World Opposition, would not have put in so much ‘good faith’ on one single email of the PAP dogs, let alone a single email of a PAP mini-puppy, without taking measures to safeguard the interest of the hawkers.

If Hammerroid MPs, some of whom so shamelessly wayang around as ‘full-time MP’ (whatever that may mean), have stopped sleeping and idling on their duty, this scandal would not have happened; If Hammerrhoid MPd have taken the time to go to the ground and speak to the hawkers and the common people, instead of merely browsing emails in the comfort of their aircon room and taking the PAP’s words for granted, the hawkers would not have been so played out.

If the Hammerrhoids have in fact been paying and arranging the scaffolding for the past 2 years which they now claim, then why would the hawkers be so kaypoh to make the necessary arrangements with their contractors on the scaffolding erection / dismantling? Why are the Hammerrhoids so gullible and accommodating to the sentence of the PAP dogs? Where is the persistent, inquisitive attribute of a First World Opposition?

The Hammerrhoid co-drivers are supposed to slap the PAP drivers BEFORE any accident, and not AFTER the accident. In this case, the Hammerrhoid co-sleepers are only beginning to wake up and slap the PAP dogs AFTER the hawkers have been played out, paying their own money to set up the White Elephant scaffolding without it ever being used while suffering losses on their income on a prolonged but very unnecessary market closure.

The hapless hawkers would not have suffered so grievously if they have been served by a First World Opposition who would protect their interest vigorously and listen to their needs diligently.

Unfortunately, the hawkers are being served by a Third World Opposition, who is only too capable to co-sleep and co-idle with the PAP regime.

We believe it is prudent for our Town Council to deal with NEA as the lead agency, rather than other bodies such as the hawkers’ association and the Citizens’ Consultative Committee under the People’s Association, on the cleaning of markets and hawker centres, to resolve any issues without complicating the matter further.

Instead, the hawkers are now being smeared by the Hammerrhoids as PAP dogs for simply daring to speak up and fight for their right.

Context aside, the Brits like to use plural for collective nouns: England are the favourites for the World Cup. The government are struggling to contain the riots.

Americans are sticklers for the rule that all collective nouns should be used in the singular: The committee has appointed a new chairman.

The Chairman of the Hammerrhoids would actually take ONE single sentence of ONE single email from ONE single unknown PAP mini-puppy at face value and put in all her ‘good faith’ and happily sleep onto it without doing anything to safeguard the hawkers’ interest???!!!

As this episode wore on and even earlier in April 2013, the Minister visited the hawker centres at various markets in Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East (AHPE) town.

Even a PAP dog, though a millionaire one, took the time to visit the hawker centres while the Hammerrhoid MPs continue to sleep and idle. Up to now, the Hammerrhoids ang pai have yet to grace their own hawker centres to listen to the needs of the people.

In doing so, the Minister could have used his not insignificant powers as Minister overseeing the NEA and exercised his leadership to reach out to all parties, including both the Hawkers Association and AHPETC, to resolve any matter amicably. We expected that as Minister, he would use his office to play a positive and constructive role in this episode, but this was apparently not to be.

Likewise, the Hammerrhoid MPs could have used their not insignificant powers as Town Councillors overseeing the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council and exercised their leadership to reach out to all parties, including both the Hawkers Association and ATL contractors, to resolve any matter amicably. We expected that as Town Councillors, the Hammerrhoids would use their ‘good office’ to play a positive and constructive role in this episode, but this was apparently not to be.

Instead the Hammerrhoid MPs themselves continue to sleep and idle, even more so when everyone at the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council are deemed to be unauthorized except those sleepers and idlers whom the hawkers are never able to get hold of.
