SINGAPORE - Upset with an acquaintance whom she felt had bad-mouthed her and her friend, a 43-year-old woman went to his home and stabbed him in the abdomen and chest with a 27cm knife.

Linda Leong Sok Koon, who has been diagnosed with anti-social personality disorder, was sentenced to five years' jail on Wednesday (Dec 16) for hurting Mr Goh Tee Kuan, 43, with the weapon on July 25 this year.

District Judge Salina Ishak backdated her sentence to her remand on July 28.

A district court heard that Leong and Mr Goh had known each other for a few years.

Before the incident, she had been nursing a personal grudge against Mr Goh. She was angry with him for bad-mouthing her and her friend, Ms Goh San Yen, 42.

At about 6pm that day, Leong and Ms Goh went to Mr Goh's flat in Ang Mo Kio with a knife but he was not in.

It was only during their third visit at 8pm that Mr Goh was home. He let Leong into his flat where she stabbed him once in his chest area and once in his abdomen.

Mr Goh took a cab to his uncle's place nearby. His relatives called the police and he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he underwent surgery and was warded until Aug 8. He had a stab wound below the right collarbone and another over the abdomen.

Seeking a sentence of at least five years' jail to be imposed, Deputy Public Prosecutor Jason Nim said Leong had acted with significant premeditation in arming herself with a knife and in visiting the victim's home to carry out the attack.

He said she had targeted vulnerable parts of his body and caused serious injuries.

Leong had convictions for causing hurt and causing hurt with a chopper as well as mischief by fire.

DPP Nim said Leong's anti-social personality disorder had rendered her prone to violence or anti-social behaviour which poses danger to the public .

Leong, who was in tears, said there were other issues that caused her to be so angry with the victim.

Ms Goh, who was charged originally with having a common intention with Leong to hurt Mr Goh, was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal last month.

Leong could have been jailed for up to seven years, fined or jailed and fined.
