A HOUSEWIFE who punched a motorist on the face over a parking incident was fined $1,000 on Thursday. Tay Kim Suan, 41, admitted fighting with Lee Kum Chuen, 59, at the carpark of Block 107 Yishun Ring Road on Sept 4 last year. The court heard that Lee, a retiree, was driving with his wife as passenger when he tried to reverse into a carpark lot at Block 107. Just then, Tay drove and stopped her car close to Lee's to prevent him from reversing.
He then stuck his hand out of the car window and waved at Tay to reverse her car, but she did not and gestured in return. Lee then got down and approached Tay's car, opened the front passenger side door and asked her to reverse her car. A dispute arose. Lee slammed the door and while he was walking back to his car, Tay came and punched him on the face.
He blocked the attack by raising his arms but she continued to punch him. He then retaliated and hit her back on her face, causing her to fall. When she got up, she tried to attack Lee again but the latter retreated to the side of his car. Lee has been fined $100. Tay could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined up to $5,000 for the offence.
