SINGAPORE : A woman was left disfigured after she turned down a man’s advances at Clarke Quay club Shanghai Dolly on Saturday.
It is understood that the male patron had approached the woman, who identified herself as Vivi, at the club’s VIP area and tried to chat her up. When she ignored him, he threw his drink at her and smashed a glass on her face.
"When my friend shouted at the guy, his friend slapped her," said Vivi, 37.
According to witnesses, Vivi, whose face was bleeding, in turn threw her drink at him and tried to grab another glass from the table but was restrained by her friends.
The club’s bouncers separated the two groups of partygoers and Vivi was escorted out of the club along with a friend. She was given first aid until an ambulance arrived and took her to the Singapore General Hospital.
The police said they received a call on Saturday at about 2.27am, requesting for assistance at the nightspot. When officers arrived, it was established that a dispute had occurred. Investigations are ongoing.
The altercation has left Vivi with a gash across her left cheek. According to Vivi, she has to undergo plastic surgery as a result of her injuries.
