The Tin / Foo debacle within the PAP camp is putting the our model of parliament and the original argument put forth by the PAP under tremendous strain.
What was conceived to protect minorities and ensure their representation is now turning out to be an abuse of the process. Foo and Tin are Chinese the last time I looked and both have little in terms of favourable attributes whether political or otherwise to be elected on their own or even within the protective fabric of PAP. They are definately riding on the coat tails of their running mates including ironically the supposedly unelectable minority candidates
This is now about being women or being young as in the case of Tin. Surely there must be some modicum of capability and capacity to carry out the function and provide some sense of confidence in doing so.
The PAP argued that remuneration has to be the cornerstone for performance and to attract the best. We are clearly in the top tier around when it comes to MP remuneration package. Surely there are more capable people than Tin or Foo. This is not even a boundary issue. Both are clearly outliers.
Ask anyone in Stand Chart and they were tell you that both her boss and her did not carry out their conduct in a covert manner. They always spent their time together including lunch and breaks. In this day and age, nobody gives a damn if the superiors condone such things. But representing constituent in Parliament is another thing. This lady was banged by her boss and its same guy who did her appraisal.
If the PAP despite this coming out in the open is still prepared to nominate her, it tells Singaporeans how they are prepared to treat us all.
If the SPH takes the trouble to clarify that her husband's bankruptcy order was withdrawn by her employers, they should also seek out from the management if unfavour consideration was given. How was this matter treated and did her boss who also oversaw the collections function step in. These are all unanswered questions crying out for answers.
I have no trouble if an MP gets banged out of his or her brains out of wedlock in this day and age. After all our Minister of Home Affairs was banging his subordinate during his legal days and whilst an MP so this should not raise any eyebrows. This however is different. This lady allowed her boss to bang her and climbed the corporate ladder.
